5800x3D > 7800x3D?
I was getting crap on here from a guy saying my 5800x3D is holding me back with my 4090 and I have a mid range PC. He said the 7800x3D and DDR5 will be significantly faster than 5800x3D and DDR4.

I play at 4k/120hz for reference.

Shockingly the 5800x3D is ahead by a couple frames in some cases and about equal to no more than around 10fps slower at 4k it seems. But the 7800x3D is extremely efficient.

Can you tell us the context around that conversation?
Was on a thread about Rift Apart PC version at launch and I was showing gameplay on my PC and he said I dated hardware so performance would be better with 7800x3D+DDR5.

Oh, well I'd agree to just ignore him. Especially if he really said a 5800x3d+4090 is a midrange pc. Gonna assume the rest of your specs are pretty impressive also.

Not sure why anyone tell you that, like performance gain is tiny when gaming at 4k, either you were talking to an air head, or person just trolling you, there nothing for you to gain going from 5800x to 7800x it just burning money really, if someone worry about getting max possible performance on cpu side, they would've said i9 13900k at the least, but again this just seem there context missing from the story for why someone bring up saying that 5800x is holding you back because that makes no sense at all really.

What is the best possible DDR4 memory available on the market? I currently have 64gb of Corsiar Vengence Pro 3200mhz and I want to upgrade it

3200Mhz is more than enough for a 5800X3D.
You can squeeze out a few more FPS with some good Micron-E dies sticks, which you could push up to 3800/4000Mhz without a Whea-Logger but we are talking a few %.

People who own the 5800X and 5900X are able to play with PBO and CurveOptimizer (which I loved) but you cant OC a 5800X3D due the V-cache not being able to handle higher voltages than 1.3 - 1.35 V

edit:
Your CPU is fine, your GPU is fine, your memory is fine.
You are fine.

I assume you ask because of the amount? I only have 64gb because I wanted all my ram slots occupied and the sticks have RGB so it looks cool. I hate the look of only 2 stick (unless it's a mini ITX build, then 2 is fine.)

DDR4 ram is dirt cheap now anyways.

Naw I already assume that might be the case, just wondering why you want to upgrade it beyond this as it's just diminishing and return, and by that I mean you may, or may not notice anything change by going above the current RAM you have, maybe 1 ~ 5 FPS at best case, the other thing you have to figure out is what does your motherboard support as that what gonna limit what RAM allowed, and if it gonna be stable enough for your CPU. IMO best spot for you is 3200mhz as it an all rounder spot.

To answer your question fastest DDR4 is 5333. And basically what I'm saying it just waste of money just to do it for the diminishing and return.

RAM speed gets really dumb quickly. What you want with Ryzen is like a super tight spot at 1800 MHz FCLK and 1800 MHz RAM speed with 14-14-14-28 timings. Anything beyond you will have to loosen timings, which costs you gaming performance. And you would have to drive absurd voltage way beyond sanity.
And not to forget that 4 modules will limit you on top of that.

It doesn't really matter if you have higher frequency and higher timings or vice versa. The only thing that makes sense if you want the Infinity Fabric to work at its maximum potential with a 1:1 FCLK to RAM ratio. But is there any point in doing so if you run all games at 4K or 1440p? No, unless it is running on iGPU.
