they may use the same connectors, but there is no standard for the pinouts
each psu even ones from the same mfg can change them at any time
using the wrong cable can damage hardware, putting 12v to 3.3v or grounding a power rail
It should definitely be common sense to never attempt this when the psu brands and/or models differ.
If you go to a complete new brand you either have to replace all cables or check each individual cable if it uses the same pins.
Even within the same manufacturer it's not always guaranteed, you still need to check.
