why 60hz on 100hz monitor look bad ?
recently ive got a new 100hz monitor, my old monitor was 60hz. while playing rdr 2 i notice that when i change the refresh rate to 60hz (on my 100hz monitor) the camera motion look unsmooth. Btw my monitor does not support gsync so i always use vsync to get rid of the tearing

No. It should appear as though you're using a 60 Hertz panel instead. Not better or worse.

Users sometimes have their computers configured incorrectly, and that gives them issues.

I dont know why but when i use my old 60hz monitor, i turn on vsync and it appear to be much smoother than 60hz on a 100hz monitor

It would be smoother if you had Freesync Premium or Gsync.

It’s because it’s refreshing the same frame every now and then. Freesync should sort it out, or cap fps to 50.

Just avoid regular FreeSync if you can. Their naming schemes can be confusing but their Premium has LFC (Low framerate compensation) which means it stays on even when it dips below the typical lowest fps range of 44.

And to be frank it makes paying the extra for a g sync chip pointless because LFC fixes the problems original FreeSync had.

Use a proper sync method such as GSync or or setting VSync to either Adaptive or Fast.

Turn in-game VSync off

how are you changing the refresh rate?
in gpu control panel?
or are you limiting fps to 60 while refresh is still at 100hz

Idk, but its always better to run at native hz. Then cap your fps with nvidia control panel if you wanna limit your fps

Wait so freesync premium basically is better than gsync or gsync is still the best choice for nvidia card

Technically having a g sync chip is the best, but most of these g sync compatible monitors you see are using FreeSync Premium. Why? Because 99% of people won't notice the slightly added input delay.

I'd still say FreeSync Premium monitor is the best choice for AMD or Nvidia GPU as it works on both. You'll have a harder time looking for a g sync monitor that isn't old with outdated panel tech or that costs an arm and leg more.

In short just look in the market for FreeSync Premium monitors.

I've owned an actual g-sync monitor before and notice no difference between that and my current FreeSync Premium monitor in terms of smoothness.

Also in the Nvidia control panel it will still be called g-sync at least when you use display port.

I reduce the refresh rate cause my fps is below the 100hz. Is about 60 to 67 fps when I play rdr 2 at 4k so I want to cap the refresh rate at 60hz to prevent tearing and unsmooth when rotating the camera

Try enabling variable refresh rate in windows setting

Don't have it. I've try searching for it in the window settings, but still can find it

If you're looking for a good deal on a 1080p FreeSync Premium monitor check this out.

https://amzn.eu/d/eeNLSMd

It has 100% srgb IPS and 170hz. All you'd want from a panel really.
