DLSS is blurry for me
I'm on a 1080p monitor and is it really worth using DLSS or does the resolution not matter?

Well depending on your quality settings than can impact the outcomes. Not to mention there's several revisions of DLSS so some question between your hardware and game might yield some explanation for the particular implementation.

Aside from that DLSS isn't perfect, it's a compromise. You get a majority of the quality of native 1080p, for a lot less work to render it. So noticing it's not identical/superior to native 1080p is inevitable. If you can already run a game just fine at native 1080p and don't care about the extra FPS, then you don't have to use DLSS. You never have to use it if you don't like it.

For me I think DLSS is great, especially at higher resolutions. But individual preferences may vary.

its image scaling, so it will be blurry
make sure the output res is native to the display, so the display is not scaling it again

Have you tried adjusting sharpening?
Ogami Oct 7, 2023 @ 1:11pm
In 1080p it upscales from 720p so yes, it wont be as sharp as native 1080p.
Its recommended to have DLSS on "high quality" in 1080p so its not so obvious.
But really, DLSS only starts to shine on 1440p or higher where its a big performance boost on top of barely any visual downgrade.

This will depend on the game you're playing mostly. Most games have outdated versions of DLSS, and DLSS is always and constantly updating and being improved on.

There's a tool called DLSS Swapper, you're able to open that program, it'll outomatically list the games you have installed, and all you do is swap the DLSS files. Make sure you don't do it with competitive multiplayer games.

Also most games with a DLSS option offers a DLSS Sharpening or a sharpening option. Try to experiment and fine tune one that will please you. It takes a few opening and closing the graphics settings menu in different games.

Hope that helps.

This comment is misleading: If set up correctly DLSS can look almost exactly the same as the original native image without any "blurry" effect on it. You claiming all instances of DLSS will always look blurry is just wrong. That's not true. And that's not just me making up things. It's been tested, documented, and proven that setup correctly DLSS can look as good as native resolution and in some instances better than native. There are lots of reviews of DLSS all over youtube documenting this. It's a known thing by now. Or should be.

To the OP: What you set your graphics settings to before applying DLSS will effect how the image using DLSS will look. What I mean is: If you have the game's graphics settings set to medium or the lowest possible then DLSS will take an already not-amazing image and then make it slightly worse. What you want to try is setting all of the graphics to high or ultra first, THEN apply DLSS to that image and see how it looks for you.

Yeah all my settings are jacked up to max and still looks blurry

It depends on the game, how the developers implemented it, and which DLSS version. You might can fix that by swapping in the DLL of a newer DLSS version into an older game sometimes to help improve performance and image quality of DLSS. There's guides online about swapping DLSS DLL's for games.

You know, when you get several people telling you how to improve the image quality, and the person responds with a "Oh well, I'm maxed all settings still blurry." It is now pretty obvious that they're not willing to put any amount of effort into trying to improve the image quality. Better to let it go and move on at this point.

1080p is just too low. Pixelated without AA and too blurry with any AA (DLSS is basically AA). I personally cannot use any 1080p monitor.

With 1440p monitor, DLSS is great though.

Beside the horrendous ghosting and artifacts, dlss is absolutely terrible at doing facial texture. In cp2077, during the first braindance, dlss absolutely messed up judy's face

Someone needs to remove the green glasses. Dlss is blurry garbage. The ai tricks you into thinking it looks good when really it's blurry trash, typical from Nvidia. Now AMD is trying to copy 🙄

These companies need to stop being lazy AF and make actually good games and actually good GPUs and we wouldn't have all this trash.

I’ve always found dlss makes it too sharp and have to reduce the sharpness using the adjuster. Sounds like people tinker too much!

Now turn dlss off and enjoy real graphics and give Nvidia and these lazy developers the middle finger they deserve. Stay away from rtx 40xx and AMD 70xx and we just might be able to straighten out game development with our own wallets.

Let's put a full stop to this stupid hype that's happening right now with PC hardware being gimped, low quality, low effort, low value, etc.

I'm looking at you AMD with your trash am5 👀, Nvidias 40 series garbage and Intel 13th/14th gen trash

Honestly, reading all these comments, I feel very glad I know how to properly set up and use such technology and get free frames for what is essentially the same picture quality.

Overall, just glad I'm not that miserable and have a strongly negative opinion towards every little thing hardware and software engineers come up with in an effort to provide a better tech for gamers and consumers.
