Thanks.
Any further thoughts on those? I notice a lot of different versions of the processor, clock speed etc.
Vid card I chose had 8GB of RAM, decent amount or go for more?
Also, system RAM. I'm so out of the game I've no idea what's decent anymore, 32, 64?
This used to be my bread and butter, but my current PC is many years old.
Best build for now. With my budget of £1000, I'm replacing my current PC and looking to buy parts.
Also....
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I'm old. SSD's plug directly into motherboards now??
Looking for opinion on my build:

4060ti while a bit pricier than the AMD options will let you make use of raytracing and dlss features which are great to have (the new frame generation tech has really impressed me).
Go for the cheapest model you can find, there is no real gain to the expensive models, especially on the mid tier cards (which can cost more than the higher tier base models in some cases! - looking at you strix models), the vents seems a decent enough cooler
No need fir 64GB if ram, you can get by on 16, but I'd recommend 32GB, go for a ddr4 motherboard option and get some 3600-3833MHz ram to be good to go with just xmp, use 2 16GB sticks for best results and should run in just about any board.
If you want to or enjoy tinkering and overclocking look at Samsung B die chips for the memory, these can be found cheapest on patriot viper memory, for ddr5 A die is the best, which I believe is hynix chips this time, if you don't want to tune and mess with the memory, get the cheapest and fastest with lowest CL you can fit into your budget.
8GB of video memory is fine, games will 'use' nearly anything available as a buffer but won't actually need it, my 3090 and 4090 will allocate upto 20GB's of memory for a game that runs fine on my 8GB 3050 using 6GB (same settings just much lower fps lol).
For a cooler, the thermalright peerless assassin seems the best option on a budget, cheaper than that be quiet option while virtually trading blows with aio's and noctua options costing 3x the price.
For storage, go for the best value NVME you can find, the crazy high read / write times are for sequential speeds, not random which gaming makes use of, I run Samsung in my main pc but went with crucial in my htpc recently as it was notably cheaper, just do t go buy g in aliexpress.com and you should be fine.
Psu wise, id want to go modular myself just to keep stuff tidy, but it does cost a bit more, just avoid tgermaltech and gigabyte psu's as a general rule and refer to the psu tier list online for good suggestions.
I won't go secondhand, because I just don't want hassle (had plenty of that before).
Interesting what you say about the RAM, I was really punting on that one. However, I've had this PC for about 7=8 years, do you think I'd need to go 64 to futureproof somewhat?
Modular PSUs, I know, easier. But you only do it once, and I'm saving about £50.
Will deffo look at the cooler.
I categorically stay away from overclocking!
Will price the intel option in a bit, and see the difference.
I run a 13400 in my htpc and it's faster than my old 9900k, which is faster than a 5600.
As for the ram ammount, very few games need more than 16GB, 32shoukd cover you for the foreseeable future, plus, go for 2x16GB sticks you can always upgrade later if need be.
Note the Intel options have both ddr4 and ddr5 motherboards available to them, ddr5 isn't really any faster than ddr4 until you get into tuning and high end kits.
I've carried over my patriot viper steel series 4400 cl19 ddr4 from my 9900k/3090 build into my 13900k/4090 build for this very reason, only change is I Water-cooled them this time, my htpc 13400 / 3050 that I use for non demanding games (why use 700w when I can use under 200) runs corsair vengeance ddr4 3600 cl18 as it was a budget friendly option (£60 for 32GB).
I would recommend spending £200 more and get RX 7800 XT instead of RX 6700 XT if you want it to last longer though.
The RX6700 XT in particular, as this is the bulk of the cost.
