The LINK Cable is needed to play VR games from your PC.
However the $80 or so is from META; you can buy the same cable from different brands on places like Ebay and Amazon for $20.
TLDR yes you can.
You have 2 options.
1.
USB 3.0 to usb c cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08T251P8D(I bought this one 2 years ago)
If you cheap out some games may have issues on connection, but no need for that overpriced Meta version cable.
2. The Meta Quest store sells an app called Virtual Desktop. If you have a modern wifi system, you can use it to connect to your pc and play games or watch movies wireless from your desktop. The farther from the wifi source, the slower the connection.
https://www.vrdesktop.net/ You will need to download the streamer app for the pc(free) and then buy the app for the quest. Any apps you own on Q1 or Q2 will carry over to the Q3.
I strongly recommend buying the cable(get a long braided one) for movement accessibility if your connected to the pc
Quest 2 just so happened to only support 3.0
Good catch thanks for the correction 223am, im slipping lol
Just dont go too cheap, the super cheap ones wont charge well, wont transfer data well and have most likely been the cause of those quest 2 burn outs you see.
