That depends on the game(s).
how would it be on DayZ and games that need alot of power to run?

I have a hp envy with almost identical specs. No joke. Same RAM, same CPU, same GPU, The same screen size, The only thing different is the model of my envy is just a tad bit different plus it has a touchscreen. Yeah it is good. On low to mid end games you can expect to be good on highest settings. On newer games like BF4 and such you can be good on medium settings. DayZ I would proably say you would be fine on highest settings. You are not going to get the best FPS in the world on high, but you can certainly handle it.
Thanks, good to hear that it will be good enough for games like BF4
around £1000
You can get better for 1000 quid. The CPU on that Envy is good, but the GPU is entry level and wont fare good at all in demanding games.

check pcspecialist.co.uk for example.
Models like the Optimus V, Vortex IV or Skyfire III can be configured to fit your needs and budget.

On the demanding games do you reckon it will play on medium settings?

No. I own a laptop with a GTX760M and a similar i7 and on games like BF4 or Watch Dogs I get my 50-60fps capped, but only at medium settings and resolutions below 1080p (e.g. 900p). A 740M is quite noticeably below the 760M.

Really? the 740m works really well for me.

yeah older or less demanding games run alright, but demanding games and thus upcoming releases dont.
You don't really need the latest cutting edge cards for gaming... You should be able to get by just fine on it even on the new ones.

No you dont need cutting edge. But at least more than entry level.

I would classify it as Mid-End. An entry level would be like an intel HD-Graphics.

If at all it's on the low end of midrange. Still it's not really viable if you want to play modern or even upcoming games fluidly without already having to drop settings and res below medium.
