Mic not working with Sound Blaster Creative Play

I bought that today( I went to an IT store and i was looking for a headset with a USB since the ...jack audio connectors aren't working on my case and the guy there just said to buy myself that, and I did) I installed the CD and everything, but the mic still didn't work, the headset(audio) does. After that I checked google, but I can't really find someone with the same problem and the same audio card...I played with the settings, but no luck. What should I do?
( I also set everything to default)

EDIT: Oh great..now the mic doesn't even show up in Via HD audio

Chances are you where ripped off.

When you say your case ones don't work do you mean front or back?

If the front jacks don't work its a simple job to connect the header internally or use the back ones. If the back ones dont work it could be disabled in BIOS or have no drivers installed.

Either way you certainly didn't need to buy a new soundcard to fix the issue.

Either way you certainly didn't need to buy a new soundcard to fix the issue.

To get my headset to work with the front ones I have to literally use a book so it can push the jack up so the headset can work, but the mic still doesn't work. For the back ones I kinda got it working( the mic) but I had to yell so the other person can hear me, but after a couple of minutes it stopped working. Also, how can i check if they are disabled in the BIOS( And how to enable them)? I updated my drivers.

Are you sure the mic isn't busted?

If you got something out of the back ports then there's nothing wrong with your existing soundcard. You should test your mic on another computer and make sure it works before doing anything else.

It does work, I tried it on my laptop and it works perfectly

OK so the next step is to check the correct mic is selected as the default communication device and to double check all volumes and make sure mute isn't checked.

Ok I'm confused. I read all this, yes... but u speak of plugging the headset in via analog jacks. Which is something USB headsets dont use. If it is USB then u plug it into USB and that is that. The USB headset will have its own drivers & software and will not even use your sound card device.

However, even with a USB headset, you need to go into Windows Sound > Playback and Recording and set the Headset Speakers to default in Playback and the Headset Mic to default under Recording. As in Windows you must select what default device u want to use, as it will not send sound to all devices at the same time.

The headset that I have don't use a USB, they use jacks, I was looking for a headset with a USB. I bought the sound card so I can use the headset with jacks.

And I did that already, but no luck.
