invisible ads playing over video
sometimes when I'm streaming video content on a site (gamespot.com being one example) I will hear the sound of ads playing WHILE the video is playing. And it won't stop when I pause the video. There are no extra tabs or pop-ups. And there are no banner ads anywhere on the page that could be associated with the audio. How do I detect/block stuff like this?

It might be adware, try doing a scan with Malwarebytes and see if that does anything for you.

It's definitely malware/adware. I fixed someone's PC that had the same thing not long ago. There would just be audio for ads playing in the background with no way of stopping it.

What browser are you using? Regardless, uninstall all addons and extensions that aren't necessary and yeah, download Malwarebytes free version like Air said.

what category would malware and adware fall under for Ad-Aware, which I already use?

I only have real-time protection. But there is also web protection, email protection, and network protection.

It obviously didn't catch it. Get something that actually works.

Malwarebytes
Spybot S&D
SuperAntiSpyware
^These actually catch stuff

Yes if it is on a website, they often will have audible ads somewhere on the site. Either use AdBlock for your web browser, or load up the site, then hit ESC. Then play your video file. If the audio ad is visable on the page, they often times have their own volume/mute control too.
