Games current tend to rarely require more than 8GB of videomemory even at higher settings.
It’s fine to keep for future proofing if you want though, just don’t build around “future proofing”, you don’t need a 7900xtx or a 4090 for 1080p gaming, and 5 years down the line, they’ll all be outdated anyway. 20 GB is VRAM is plenty for now and for the foreseeable future, it’s really only 8GB cards having problems with very new games atm, and 12 GB may be in a risky zone in the future.
