Wifi problem
I am having a bad time with wifi on online games. Ive called up my internet provider and they found my pc is running on 5 GHz which is slower then the 2.4 GHz which it should be on. I was advised to change the channels but nothing seems to be working, In the same room my pc has 2 bars of wifi whereas my laptop has 4 how can i fix this problem or how i can manually change my pc to 2.4 GHz? I also was advised to buy a powerline adapter which i will do.

My 5 ghz is faster than my 2.4 ghz so I stay on it. Also my powerline adapter goes slower than dirt, but I'm guessing that's just my old houses wiring's fault.

do a speedtest (just google that) and give the numbers here.

142.8 - Mbps download

28.5 - Mbps upload

Latency: 8 ms

It says my internet connection is very fast but when i play fighting games i keep disconnecting against other people. I am very confused.
The Wi-Fi routers that can emit at 2.4GHz and 5GHz are usually visible as 2 Wi-Fi with different names . Connect the PC to the desired line . Some devices support only 2.4Ghz - cell phones , laptops . 5GHz must be faster than 2.4GHz , and with better connectivity/range , But here it depends on the quality of the device as well - phone , laptop , etc . Might try another Wi-Fi adapter .

Check wifi drivers first thing. If the device is older, maybe get a nice USB wireless adapter for wifi which can help. Your speeds are decent and shouldn't be the issue. I'd recommend running something like PingPlotter (free version) and see if maybe you're getting dropped packets throughout the day. That could cause the disconnects and wouldn't reflect in speeds.
EDIT: also, your ISP lied. 5ghz is faster speeds but can be less signal if you're far away. 2.4 has further signal but can be slower.

Your router should be able to broadcast a 2.4GHz signal as well, your pc wifi antenna should be able to see it.
Log into your router and see if it’s on.

5GHz is faster, but doesn’t have as much penetration as 2.4GHz, that’s why sometimes you get a lower signal with 5GHz.
