Yes I know it cost money but I got it really cheap on sale during holiday and it is system wide not just in my browser.
So works on gaming servers too that have ads. No offense to server owners
And a Pihole for all the non-browser stuff.
I tried ublock origin. I like it though wanted something a little easier with advanced features. I am not sure if I want to use two different programs per say for ad blocking.
Cool.
How well does Pihole block ad spaces that are left on a webpage/website ?
For example the ads on YouTube it does not block for they originate from youtube.com itself.
The ads on other websites utilizing services such as Google Adsense are blocked.
For the rest of my usage, I use mostly FLOSS, which doesn't usually have ads. I also surf a lot of .org and .gov websites, which don't have many ads, and when they do its like "donate to humanitarian aid somewhere".
I guess I get some annoying ads when reading news articles, but I ignore them. I'd rather have them than required login or some like that. Also, because of other anti-tracking measures, they are usually very generic.
Chrome is the far worst browser around, these days. Any other Chromium based browser, like Vivaldi, is much more efficient.
Still, I preffer Firefox based browsers.
Do admit it can get frustrating getting a site to run correctly at times.
Shocking how many sites you can't login on without the Google.com script being allowed.
ublock origin in the browser, specifically firefox.
For network wide ad ablocking, use adguard as a community plugin in the router. (opnsense)
