Upgrade from 1660 Super
I really don't want to spend over $400 for a card. Is a 3060 ti a good upgrade for 1080 resolution?

I'm on a 4k tv, but I'm fine letting it upconvert from 1080.

personally i would go for rtx 3060 12 gb OR rx 6700 xt 12 gb

yes you will see a great improvement but both are no 4k gpu's...
The RX 6700 XT (or 6750 XT) is the best option within that price range, presuming the US market.

The next closest thing is the RTX 3060, which is markedly worst.

The RTX 3060 Ti usually tends to be a bit above your price range of $400, which is also supposed to be its MSRP, but even if you find it there which you can sometimes, it's not a stellar option IMO as the aforementioned RX 6700 XT is still generally slightly better (at least outside ray tracing), but is quite cheaper and has 50% more VRAM.

RX 6700 XT is exactly what you are looking for, avoid the RTX 3060.

Just reiterating what above two posters have said, go for the RX 6700 XT or RX 6750 XT, they're armed with 12gb VRAM which would prove quite useful in the long run. While the RTX 3060 12GB which is a capable enough card (be careful, there's an RTX 3060 8GB which performs about 15%-20% worse than the 12GB version), it is soundly beaten by the RX 6700XT/6750XT in rasterize gaming.

The RTX 3060 Ti trades wins against the RX 6700 XT, more or less, but is more expensive and has only 8GB of VRAM. Again, all part of nVidia planned early obsolescence for capable cards (like the RTX 3060 Ti/3070/3070 Ti) with only 8GB VRAM so that owners would have to upgrade to cards with more VRAM, earlier rather than later due to newer games requiring more VRAM (even at 1080P).

This exactly, the 8GB of vram on the RTX 3060ti will make it age poorly. We are starting to see poor performance out of 8GB cards in many games released this year.

My card in my rig, just love that it's not like cards from the big three (MSI, Gigabyte, Asus) which are RGB'ed to hell and back. Just a simple looking, solidly built card is all I need -

My 2nd rig is really back to basics, no RGB whatsoever (makes sense since the case I'm using, SOLDAM Windy XR-1 has no transparent side panel), I guess I'm going back to old skool.

Yes, something of an AMD fan, both rigs are all AMD builds....

Always go with Titanium or Super when dealing with Nvidia. Always.
