Classic Playstation Controller not being recognized
I recently got one of those mini PlayStation 1 consoles, it comes with 2 old controllers (The one without analogs) that are USB ones. They connect and they work, for both my PSX emulator and for Steam with some games like TMNT and SoR4. But the controller does not appear in the Controller section of settings. Is this a bug? Idk if this means something is not right or not. Any advice and info is appreciated

make sure generic is ticked

steam -> settings -> controller -> [general]

I did, it just shows as 0 controllers detected. It appears to work just fine, it even prompts the use of PS icons instead of Xbox icons in certain games

then its not using steams mapping for those games
since it shows in joy.cpl and not steams controllers

steam -> library -> select game -> gear -> properties -> controller tab -> disable steam input

find its usb vid/pid, and post it on the steam link forums
the mod there is always adding new controller support

post the type, name usb pid/vid
a link to buy the controller also helps so they can get one to test

Awesome, thabks for the info. I will look into it tomorrow morning. I might have a few questions on how to do it. I will return to ask you if that is ok

What would even be the point? Those USB PS1 style controllers don't have as many buttons and all as a modern day Xbox/Sony controller. In most games you're not going to have enough buttons, triggers, axis' on those USB PS1 controllers to make them even worth your time using for games on PC.

I had to map mine manually, The USB PID is showing:
VID_054C PID_0CDA

It is showing up as a generic controller in Steam, and thus uses the XBox button icons in the UI.

Buttons are plenty. It has four face buttons (abxy or X,O,[],/\), four shoulder "trigger" buttons, start and select, and a D-Pad.

These controllers are lacking all of the axis', no analog sticks whatsoever.

on the ps2, all buttons are analog, not digital
but on pc, all are digital, for emulators you need to map a keyboard button to half or variable button presses
