Headphones randomly stopped working after unplugging and plugging back in.
Hello, I have this very mysterious problem. I unplugged and plugged back in my headphones because they were acting up again (sometimes they just stop working and replugging works all the time), but this time they just completely stopped working. What could the problem be? Here's what I tried:

Reinstalling Realtek audio drivers
Using Windows troubleshooting (pretty useless)
Uninstalling headphone drivers and then replugging them
Plugging the headphones in different USB ports

If the headphones are usb, then they never use the motherboard onboard audio, such as realtek.

If you unplug them, Windows might have gone and auto changed the default back to Realtek HD Audio > Speakers.

Plug them in and leave them plugged in, and set to the playback and recording default (just in playback if it's headphones without a mic)

Otherwise they won't output any audio in most apps/games if they are not set as the default device.

If you use your usb headset enough to where you generally do not use any onboard motherboard audio, then simply go to Device Manager and Disable the Realtek HD Audio. Or disable it from the bios, which will make it never show up in any OS, period.

Many games won't allow you to hotplug an audio device, so ensure its plugged in and working before launching a game.

None of this worked unfortunately. I'm inclined to believe that the headphones just died randomly after replugging them, as they also do not work on the other device. What pisses me off is that they died in the most random way possible, after a simple replug that I did a thousand times with these specific headphones. Heck, even my PC acts like they're working, with green bars showing up on the headphones when I play a sound. Moral of story? Never buying from Razer ever again, horrible devices from them.
