usb 3.0 on external ssd can work ok, but often limited by usb bandwidth and iops
if you do use external drive, make sure windows is set to give it the same drive letter every time its plugged in, create a steam library on it
be sure to exit steam completely before unplugging/ejecting it, and make sure its plugged in and assigned the correct letter when you run steam
when installing games on it, it will take about 2-3x as long vs the internal drive due to how steam downloads/decompresses/installs games
How about usb 3.1? if more certain im thinking about buying this "Samsung 500GB Portable T5 USB 3.1 Red MU-PA500R/ EU SSD"
cloning is the best way to go
because u will make an exact copy
saves u headaches
Just realised you said external ssd. But yes you can. Just won’t be as quick as internal ssd
But the ssd is definitely faster than an internal hdd correct?
