stuttering in some games after gpu upgrade
After changing 1060 3gb to 6600 non-xt some of my games started stuttering a lot.Usually the stutter goes away after running around the same area for a while. Some game don't have any stuttering. The thing is I'm upgrading my old PC with a PCIE 3.0 mobo.Could that be the cause? As far as I know there's basically no differnece between pci 3.0 and 4.0 on 6600 and 6600xt

Incidentally I ran into this thread OP https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/zvo2k2/rx_6600_shader_cache_stuttering_in_every_game/

I'm pretty sure you didn't post it, but it seems like it might as well have been your very own post just 8 months ago. Take a quick read. Ends in disappointment. I still think there's hope for a fix but maybe it'd help knowing someone else has been through the same thing.

Someone mentioned in one of the posts that they got the impression that having Chrome or a lot of memory intensive programs kind of caused it. Maybe close any bloatware you have running? close browsers or anything else unnecessary you have running before running those games and see if it helps any?
I have a habit of closing everything before launching a game so chrome can't be the culprit obviously. Also I disabled the feature that keeps it running in the background after closing. It's not my thread co I bought my 6600 literally 1,5 months ago lol.Disappoiting for sure.Ima search for a used 2070 or 3060 to replace my 6600 and probably never get AMD GPU again

And where is the issue !? Dont be ridiculous .
Look at the frametime

i ve already watched it over 3 times . It s not a serious issue if we can call it an issue at all . My old GTX 1650 had far bigger issue in a few games - real stuttering . Yours is just a little dip .
There's a large spike every 2-3 sec.No game should behave like this

As you wish but for me you must just calm down . You are seized with groundless fear that you ve gotten x8 card not x16 . It s no issue . You have min FPS 54 and avg 60 . Very good
Don't look at the fps.I'm talking about frame skipping i.e. frametime spikes aka microstutters/microfreezes.Google about it

FPS or frametime , makes no difference , just frametime = 1000/FPS
You don't seem to understand how it actually works:steamfacepalm:
Come to think of it, is your gpu display cable plugged in all the way? I know it sounds stupid but I'm remembering something that happened to me one time where I tried everything to solve a stutter on a newly built system. It was a brand new windows install, brand new gpu.

I had the computer hooked to a tv just to test it out. It was the hdmi cable, it wasn't plugged in all the way. It was actually out a tiny bit (seriously like 1 mm). I pushed it in all the way and the stutter was gone immediately. It was honestly such a strange solution, especially since sound and video were fine the whole time. I had no idea the hdmi cable can produce stutter, but here it did.

If you're using displayport then I doubt this is your issue. If you're using hdmi then I would look in the back of both the display and your pc to make sure the hdmi is fully seated to where it actually bottoms out and cannot be inserted further. Don't damage it of course, just make sure it is in.

I notice some pc tower and some GPUs, how they line up in the back, sometimes it can be difficult to get clearance for the hdmi cable. You want to avoid this, you want no obstructions in the way like part of the pcie area where the GPU mounts.

There isn't a clear answer because it can be anything causing it, but I suggest checking your idle and in game temperatures.

Whens the last time you changed your thermal paste? CPU + GPU?

It's definitely not a cable issue since the stuttering is absent in like 80% of games that I play.Turned out to be a shader cache problem

The temps are fine.60-65C during gaming.I changed my CPU cooler a few weeks ago and of course I applied a new paste
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
