Yes, my hardware is capable of running 60FPS with a 1440p monitor, but I had to lower most of my settings to not drop below that. Then again, it's said (somewhere) that the GTX 1070 is meant for solid 60FPS on 1440p monitor.
I never really noticed any difference after upgrading to 1440p. I also had to give it to my brother because he's computer is capable of running above 100FPS, as far as I'm aware. By downgrading, with the budget I have and not really wanting to pay more, I have the opportunity to find the right 1080p gaming monitor, with the features I never looked into before.
1080p 144hz or there abouts should do fine

Got that for my son about 2 years ago now, he absolutely loved it.
This doesn't look like a bad monitor at all.
I'm aiming towards one of these two:

FTFY, monitors don't "give FPS," they merely provide visual output for the video card, which is responsible (alongside the CPU) for FPS.
The GTX 1070 was good for 1440p 60Hz at one point, but it really depends on the game. Games are more demanding now than they were when it was good for 1440p, and the 1070 is only around as good as a 1660 Ti.
So you have a decision to make; drop your monitor resolution, or spend a bit more for a card better suited for 1440p 60Hz, such as a 2060-Super, or RX 5700 XT. If it's above 60Hz, then 2070-Super or better.
What about the third option? Drop down to 1080p but invest on the right monitor with features I should've experienced before. So I posted two monitors that I think would suit me.
Why downgrade the monitor when you can just upgrade your graphics and stay at a superior resolution? 1440p is a better quality experience than 1080p.
I'd rather buy a whole new PC when the time comes. Right now I'm looking for the right gaming monitor, and one of the two I posted seem suitable to me.
