Wifi adapter?
Hi guys, im looking for a good usb wifi thingy but im not sure what to buy.
Right now im using a cheap usb dongle, the mini usb things without antenna etc.. for like 3/5 euro.
The signal on this thing is good but im having some latency issues and can't watch a stupid video without interruptiond on 1080p or 720..meanwhile on my phone i have zero issue watching / look at streams and i think the problem is the dongle.. i am right?
(im always download at my isp full speed, so i don't know why im laggin/have those interruptions (at fist i doesn't have problems, 35/60 ms ping in all games etc, now it is impossible for me to play online).
Or is the computer the problem?

Cheapo USB dongles, even with antennas, are pretty garbage in comparison to PCI-e. I have USB wireless dongles, and they all run like crap, regardless of router settings.

Good ones (that aren't outrageously expensive and will recommend) include:

ASUS PCE-AC68
PCE-AC56 (I've used the AC56, it's about as good as the built-in wireless adapters in high end motherboards that include WiFi from my experience)
If you go with an ASUS model, do not install their utility. Install only the driver. The utility is the same across all of their adapters and has a real knack for disconnecting and reconnecting to other available wireless connections on its own.

Whatever you do, do NOT get a Gigabyte model. The antenna that Gigabyte includes with their wireless adapters and WiFi motherboards is so trashy and unreliable that it feels like you could use a paperclip as an antenna and it'll work just as well. I tested a wireless antenna from an ASUS model card, and it proved not only connectivity, but speed as well.

list the brand/model of your current usb wifi dongle, your internet plan, and your wifi/router brand/model.

can be QoS (quality of service) issue on your wifi router or your wifi dongle uses old technology (wifi N?) or is in wifi channel that is congested.

the dongle is a d-link, not sure what model, i trash the package by internet plan i don't know what to tell you exactly, it is a 10 Mb connection from radio signals i suppose, they install a thing on my antenna that receive the signal from their thing installed on a church bell(nothing in the way from the tower and my house), they give me their router/modem because for some strange reason they can't (they wont) activate something from their part on my own router, forgot how that thing is called.
(i can upgrade the connection up to 30 Mb if i want, 3mb/s download)

I don't know, it happen a few weeks ago, worked fine until this happened.

the dongle is a D-Link dwa - 121 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter (copied by looking at wifi folder)

Then you should be waiting and not spending money on things you don't necessarily need.

Keep in mind that models with proper heatsinks are ideal because they can throttle if they get too hot. Doesn't mean they will, but better to have it just in case rather than not having it at all.

Then use what works fine, or use ethernet.

It's what im asking, there are a lot of them, i just don't want to waste on some expansive garbage, about ethernet i can't, i have to move my pc bed etc into another room because the cable is literally coming from the antenna in said room is nit connected to the house

It would be cheaper to just make a "path" for the ethernet cable. Or have the router moved.

Ethernet performs better than wireless anyway, it's only convenient when ethernet absolutely isn't an option.

eh sounds easy but i have to cross a long hallway from room to room, i have to call the service to moove the cable from the antenna into my room or.. just move my entire room in there lol
Nevermind i was checking if i have a ethernet port in my room, i dont..
Edit: screw it i moove my entire room tomorrow i have to figure out how to moove a doublebed alone trough the curved hallway, thanks anyway for your time...

Good choice, when it comes to time or money, spend what you have most of.

Especially with some parts of the world economy being hit pretty hard by the panic over COVID-19.

Pcie isn't expensive and will make a huge improvement for the most part.
