AtlasOS just launched
Atlas is a tool that modifies Windows, removing a lot of the bloatware garbage that Microsoft spews all over your system in their updates, making things genuinely more responsive, and making Windows better. It's currently only supported for Windows 10 22H2, they're still working on Windows 11.
I tried it myself on my HTPC that's using an i5-3470, it does what it set out to do, and it works well. So users that dislike some of what Microsoft is doing with Windows, but doesn't want to go through the hassle of Linux, has another option.

*shrugs*

Just wanted to try. Didn't want to say it was your fault. Just didn't like to see a pointless personal argument (civil arguments by contrast I find harmless).

Pick where to invest your efforts, basically. If you like Windows but feel someone is advocating against it SOLELY to advocate Linux, then you should know it's not worth your time. For what it's worth, I don't think Omega was doing that anyway. I see him as one of the most detached and objective people on these forums, but that's merely my opinion. But he does like Linux and a lot that it represents, and vice versa for Microsoft and Windows, so it will come with territory that he will speak his mind on things. But I don't think he was doing it for its own sake. Only speaking something because it came up.

To give an example, you may recall me speaking highly of the 5800X3D. And I also own it. Now am I speaking highly of it purely BECAUSE I own it? Or what if the inverse is true? What if I found it so great before owning it, that it made decide it was worth owning? In reality, the second is more the case. And I think a similar explanation would explain why he might say things you feel are biased for their own sake, when in reality he probably already has the opinions that things should be more flexible and down to user control, and dislikes Microsoft and Windows as a result. Rather than advocating for Linux SOLELY because he's part of that community. I really hope I explained that part well.

Just how I took it though. I'm merely a third party point of view (and usually I wouldn't "get involved" in things that don't pertain to me, but I wanted to try and mediate here since it genuinely seemed like a misunderstanding that wasn't worth causing heated feelings over). But I'm not some objective authority on what he did or didn't really mean, so maybe I'm wrong on what anyone else meant here. So feel free to ignore me and choose your own opinions.

No, I definitely appreciate your post. I have no problem "squashing the beef". ESPECIALLY, if I'm the one that started it or was wrong. I enjoy finding out I'm wrong. The only thing that stinks is that I still can't see how I am :steamsad:

It doesn't matter if it's gonna make a difference or if it's gonna become mainstream or remain underground.

What matters is that the user has options. So kudos to the developers.

Well if it did or does help, I am glad.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're "wrong", even if that's merely because I guess misunderstandings aren't really something I see as right or wrong but rather as just a misunderstanding. It's harmless, so not worth blowing up into something bigger.
