KVM on monitor issues - Am I doing something wrong?
Hi,

I've got a Gigabyte M32U monitor and I've only just started using the built in KVM. But there is a bit of an issue that I wonder if anyone knows how to fix.

I can use the built in KVM to connect my work laptop and my desktop to the same display, and use the same keyboard and mouse. The USB C also charges the laptop battery. Really useful when working from home.

Anyway, the issue I have is that unless I leave the work laptop plugged in via USB C (doesn't need to be on, just plugged in) and then turn on the main PC, the KVM doesn't automatically switch over. If I leave it plugged in it's fine and switches automatically. After this I can turn off the PC and back on again and it works fine without a second device plugged in to the USB C.

I've run the KVM setup. PC is on USB B - Display port. and USB C-USB C

If I unplug the work laptop (A Microsoft Surface Laptop 4) before turn on the main PC the PC errors saying there is no keyboard detected. Going into the KVM settings makes no difference.

So why won't it switch over on its own if the USB C port isn't connected?

Sorry, bit of a convoluted explanation.
