Good Recording Mic
Can anyone recommend a good microphone for recording games?

I have a Blue Yeti and it looks like that's supposed to be one of the best, but it picks up everything in the background. My fan running, or air conditioner, controller buttons. Even when they're on the other side of the room. Turning the gain down doesn't help because then people just can't hear me.

I don't know if there is a way to fix the mic, or if there is a better one I could use. I found a foam cover on Amazon for the Yeti. It's supposed to reduce background noise but I don't know if they really work.

Just play with settings, add filters like noise gate and noise supression on OBS. Blue yeti is good for what you want.

You cant even hear someone next to me speak let alone keyboard clicks, people playing music in the background or whatever through my blue yeti and it retains audio quality especially since itll be compressed for youtube anyway

I would like to try a boom arm, if I could find one that works with Yeti. I think one problem is that I have it sitting directly on my desk. The boom arms I've found on Amazon say they don't fit the Yeti since it's too big.

Most boomarms should support the yeti its one if not the most popular go to entry/mid level microphone you can buy

My Yeti is also nearly 10 years old. I'm wondering if I should just buy a new one. I found a kit on Amazon with the mic and boom arm. I'm wondering if they made any improvements to the microphone since I bought mine.

The boom arms I found specifically state they don't fit the Yeti. So now I'm worried about buying the wrong one, because I don't want to go through the trouble of returning something in the mail.

Samson Q9U, it's heavy so make sure you get a beefy boom arm. Retails for around $200 but you can pick them up for $99 pretty often.

You could also try something like RTX Voice or krisp.
If the background noise is only soft a noise gate would do.

You can but I think you might need to pay for it.
There was one I used for awhile but it comes as a VTS plugin.
I used it with Equalizer APO, there might be other ways?

Found out its an option with OBS it's called RNNoise.

I am guessing you dont have a Nvidia card otherwise I think RTX voice or Nvidia Broadcast is good.

Nvidia card, you mean my video card? I have a 3060ti, but I don't know what RTX voice or Broadcast is.
