Windows 11 compatibility
My new gaming computer came with Windows 11. I've already found two of my computer programs (Irfanview and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 14) that don't work correctly with Windows 11.

What about my PC games — will they all be upwardly-compatible with Windows 11? I was about to pre-order "The Last Of Us" for PC (Steam) but the requirements say Windows 10. Will it work as well with Windows 11? How can I be sure?

Win10 being the oldest OS most newer games can use. Win10 isn't the only option. 90% of games won't have an issue on Win11. Especially if they are ran using Steam.

If you have Ryzen 5xxx, 7xxx or Intel 12/13 Gen CPUs then it would rather dumb to use Win10, as that OS can't utilize the newest hardware properly.

Your old apps not working on Win11 could just be that you need to go to the maker and download the latest version and install that instead. Or that you might just need to install that app using Win7, 8 compatibility mode to get it to install and run on Win11. Some apps are like that on Win10 too.

You're right. It didn't before, but I think that was because I hadn't downloaded all the right plugins yet.

Sounds more like a visual glitch then anything else.

Nuance told me yeah, NatSpeak 14 isn't compatible with Windows 11 but NatSpeak 15 is, so you'll have to upgrade — for $250. So... no. But as long as the games will play, I'll keep W-11.

That's what my son told me. I'll have to get him to explain to me what that means and how to do it. :-)

Install the app. Then go to the folder where the app is installed, right click the app's EXE file and go to Properties > Compatibility > All Users > try setting it to Windows 7 or 8

If you did not already, uncheck the Windows Folder Options for "Hide file extensions"
If not sure how to get to Folder Options. Bring up Windows/File Explorer > click View > Options.

Windows 10 also changed the compatibility over the years by improving or breaking older Windows games from 95 to 7, but they never posted a detailed change log for it.
Cause who wants to sit around and test all that stuff. MS sure as hell isn't going to.
