dwm.exe app crash faulting module gameinput.dll xbox controller
Hi lovely people of the internet,

I need some help in regarding this matter as its driving me insane. I have a xbox series x controller (Not elite) I connect to my pc via the xbox wireless adaptor and play games using that method of connection. Issue is when I turn of the xbox controller after quitting my game I get the following error: dwm.exe app crash faulting module gameinput.dll in reliability monitor. Googling my error I cant find any other people with this issue. This issue happens when I turn of the controller, most of the time when I turn of the controller there is no problem it just turns off no issues. But sometimes I get that error, this issue I can replicate by playing a game then exiting the game and turning of the controller. If i repeat this a few times I eventually get this error. I have this feeling its a windows issue as I dont remember having this problem before after updating my rig i noticed this all my parts have been replaced and so has the controller and wireless adaptor. The controller firmware is updated. So is my windows, bios and chipset drivers are the latest and so are my gpu drivers.

Specs: 7900x, asus x670e mobo, 64gb ram, rtx 3080, 1000wat psu

Windows 11?

Yes windows 11, all updates installed, I re installed the OS did a clean install still the same issue, the exact same problem. It's completely random many times I can turn of the controller no issues but sometimes I get the error, it's like the wireless adapter on some random occasions does not like it when the controller is turned off. Since gameinput.dll is related to the wireless adapter. I have also changed adapter I am starting to believe this is a windows bug

IDK what you're expecting; like are people expecting Win11 to be stable by now?
It's still just a junk beta OS. Win10 was junk for the first couple years. It's still early for Win11.

You have complete morons running the Microsoft Windows OS department since right before Win11 released.

Do a clean install of Win10 22H2. Very stable to say the least.

Look into the sfc and dism tools to check for system file errors.

I have ran SFC/DISM seems like this is a bug with the controller connected to the wireless adaptor, bluetooth/wired seem fine

I would try and stick to using the Wired USB method.
It's much more stable overall. Although yes I know it's not always ideal, especially if you have a big room or using PC in a living room, having any wires run across the floor sux.

There are a few more people poping up with this bug, some on the dead space section. I believe this is a bug, since I never had this issue before. Using wired it still uses the gameinput.dll, something is happening to this file when the controller turns of the wireless adaptor does not like it. As mentioned it does not happen all the time just at random times and the means it happens by is turning off the controller
