Error Code: -118
Hi Everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with Error Code: -118 and have not been able to find a solution. I searched the Steam Forums, but only found one post related to this issue, which did not offer a resolution.

Although I can play my Steam games online with no issues, this error code occurs whenever I try to access the store page. I believe this may be affecting the games update information under Library page as well.

This problem has persisted for several weeks, and I have not made any changes to my internet settings, except for a new router installed by my ISP. While I can access Steam without problems using my work laptop, attempts to reinstall the Steam client on my personal laptop from there have not resolved the issue.

Is there anyone who has had the same problem and can provide assistance? I would be grateful for your help.

A search by me says it has something to do with a network interruption or something like that between STEAM and the STEAM SERVERS.

So, try network fixes like...

reboot router
try different dns server
update steam

stuff like that

Stop using the Client to surf the web.
Use your Web Browser.
Often times the Client browser just doesn't work very well.
Clear out the temp junk web cache for Steam on a regular basis too.

Thanks for the suggestions but, I've tried them all and still didn't work.

I couldn't even access the Steam store page through my Web Browser :(
[SOLVED]

It's because of a bypass that I did when my retarded of a government country decided to block Steam.

EDIT:

In case you face the same problem as this one, what I did was remove any steam address on my dns host file: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

(such as store.steampowered.com) it works and removed the Error Code -118

Dropping here in case anyone else needs it.
