Evga 2080 super temperature question
Hey guys, so i bought this gpu 2 days ago and im' in the middle of testing it, in furmark under heavy load 1080p for 20 min it reached 85 degrees is this normal ? also its idle temp is 48 degrees, should i hold on to this card guys as i'v never reached temps like this with my old 2060 super, thanks

Perfectly normal. Furmark is a worse-case scenario for a GPU, it is supposed to put as much strain on it as possible.

85c is the point at which your GPU starts throttling and agressively ramping its fans which is why it maintains this temperature.

Thanks allot thats really helpfull, what do you think about undervolting and lowering the power fromm 100% to 90% (i have 500 watt psu) will it cause trouble ? thank you again

Undervolting won't cause trouble. Although undervolting too much may hinder the card's performance so I'd do some before and after benchmarks to track that.

And as Omega said it's normal. I have a EVGA 2080 Super too, high end cards just get hot. But 85C is within operating limits. And besides, the cards will throttle if they get too hot anyway. Typically the cards are hitting 85C under boost clocks, so those will adjust and fans will ramp up to keep the card at or below its thermal limits.

I would only worry about it if you were having severe performance issues.
Finnaly i found one with the same card :D , performance issues im having none (thankfully) as i'v been told that the person who owned this card before played allot of games, i think i will hold on to this card as you reassured that it is okay, i did some heavy heavy testing with furmark and heaven benshmark, not one single crash.
i'm really thankfull for your comment as you bassicly decided for me x), have a nice day

Even without lowering power % just undervolting will help. How much depends on Silicon Lottery. Last 3 cards I've started by looking at it's highest clock speed and setting Voltage for that at 1 then tested dropping it by - 0.025 more after each successful test.

My 3070 Ti is currently at 1,995Mhz +1000 to memory all at 0.950mv Before the tweak highest clock is set to 1,965Mhz so still has a small OC whilst dropping the voltage.

85C is fine for furmark, thats going to push temps, its pretty much a power virus.

Though you can look at the fan curve, some of them EVGA cards wont max the fans out until after the card starts to throttle, optimize for best sound acoustics from factory, Can make it more aggressive, I like to set my fans to 100% at 70C+.

under 90c at full load is good, it not throttling

Very insightfull, will definitely adjust my fan curve after this

My ASUS strix rtx 2080 super does not get hotter then 65c under max load and idle temps low 28c to 33c.

it differs, doesnt it? 85°C is also ok. depends on the case and cooling and whatever.
