Apple iPad 10.9 2022 no PWM? Any reviews from owners?
Hello. Does anyone have Apple iPad 10.9 2022? According to Notebookcheck, this Ipad does't have PWM. Is it really true?? Because Ipad 9th has 40000 Hz !! And It is quite high. Thank you for any reply

As far as I understand for a few reviewers at notebookcheck, it is a combination of both.

The panel should be pwm 0, pwm free under high sensitivity frequency.

If a panel PWM ratio of screen on/off time per duty cycle(or what we know as “hertz”) is 50:50, and they do not observe it changing(when brightness is decreased) to 40:60 , 30:70, 10:90, 5:95, etc etc ~ they will report panel as PWM 0, PWM free.

The thing is ~ as long as screen ON/OFF ratio is not 100:0, it will always consist of PWM. PWM free means ratio is always at 100:0. Thus a few reviewers are incorrect in this.

Additionally, a PWM also consist of modulation depth - which is the deviation from the mean brightness output between screen ON and screen OFF. If the total deviation (aka modulation depth %) begins with 8% (which is very high and cognitively perceivable for really sensitivity people) and they do not observe it going up to extreme values like 16%, 32% etc), they are also still going to report panel as PWM 0, PWM free.

Ipads are so complicated

9th is a good value for the money, 10th is a bad value for the money. The apple refurbished iPad Air 4th gen is a much better device for not much more money than a 10th gen if you want something else besides the 9th gen.

I don't think the base iPads are worth it honestly. Buy a refurbished iPad Pro or new iPad Air 5.

apple and many hardware mfgs do alot of marketing bs to make their products look better on paper than they actually are

it may be a high pwm freq, but it makes zero difference
