i9-10900k WHEA Internal Parity Error In Event Viewer

i was playing a game earlier and the game froze and crashed to desktop so i took a look inside the event viewer and this is what comes up



A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Nothing is overclocked my CPU is at stock this error has only just started happening recently and alot of research is pointing towards it being a CPU issue but im not entirely sure. I ran the intel diagnostic tool and all came back fine no errors. I heard this issue also effects Ryzen 5950x Processors aswell as there were many people mentioning about the WHEA errors.

I dont have any BSOD,s or Reboots just an error that i noticed logged in my event viewer

Running the Intel Proc. Diagnostic Tool was very smart but does not always have validity (says PASS when a component is in failure). Is it a cluster of WHEAs or one at a time?

What version of Windows are you running?

I saw a very similar thread (with some goofy replies though) in the Intel forum. Similar processor to yours. There, the OP said updating the NVIDIA driver fixed it.

I don't know how/why a graphics driver would interact with the processor but there it is. Is your gpu driver up to date?

Something is faulting, but not bad enough to bring the system down. It's crashing the game though, apparently.

Is this a one off though, or repeating? And if it's repeating, is it with multiple games/software, or one?

If it's a one off, I'd not worry if/until it happens again. Sometimes errors happen. If it's happening repeatedly...

What temperatures does the CPU run to?

...has me wondering if something in the CPUs cache isn't passing some sort of checks. Bad cache? Functional cache but corrupted memory contents failing a parity check due a bad driver/XMP pushing the system?

You said the CPU isn't overclocked, but what about other things? Namely, is XMP active? Try without it.

Are chipset drivers up to date? Other drivers as well? BIOS up to date?

the only thing i have on is the XMP in the bios but it has worked everyday and never encountered this error until recently. i have a mild overclock on my RTX 3080 with MSI Afterburner and fan curve applied but i dont think that has anything to do with this error. people said about disabling the meltdown mitiigations but i dont know if thats a good idea or not

If it happens again, I'd be looking at the things I mentioned.

Ensure BIOS/drivers (including chipset) are updated.

Try with XMP off, and disable the GPU overclock too.

But given its launch I thought nothing of it. Fast forward to starfield release. Still having the same issue. Processor core internal parity error event ID 19 and the APIC value has been random. It can happen an hour in or a few minutes in game. I've tried everything. Using the oldest and newest bios did not work. Rolling back gpu drivers did not work. Updating intel ME/chipset drivers did not work. Were you ever able to find a solution to this?

all i did was update the bios to the latest version and completely reinstall windows 11 updated all the latest chipset and intel drivers havent had an error since. its most likely a bug that happens on Intel 10th Gen Processors and it also happens on Ryzen 5000 Series Processors.

In your case i would make sure bios is fully up to date and reinstall windows aswell

That WHEA error suggests either a faulty or unstable CPU (or something else like a bad BIOS/chipset driver is cascading to cause a fault with the CPU by extension).

If you're not on the latest BIOS or chipset drivers, try that. If you're overclocking/undervolting (this includes XMP), try stock. If all the above is in order and it's stock, you can try giving the CPU more voltage if you know what you're doing to try and rule out instability due to lack of voltage.

The APIC ID number corresponds to what core or thread faulted. If the number is not consistent and different each time, that means it's a different core/thread is faulting each time and that would more suggest instability rather than failed hardware in my mind.

I had two of these errors (well, similar) after never having them ever, and it was because I was trying to undervolt the CPU and I didn't win the lottery on it. Mine were a bit different in that instead of a parity check, it was this a "Cache Hierarchy Error" and was causing the PC to restart as well (and the APIC number was different both times and I know the CPU is good at stock) but it was cleared up by reverting to stock.

So unless you have a faulty CPU, I'd say it's still instability related to the CPU. Which the BIOS or chipset drivers can impact the stability of.

Но решилось всё банально.
Так как я собрал компьютер на последних версиях железа, при нагрузке появлялись ошибки из-за несовместимости BIOS материнской платы.
Я обновил BIOS на последнюю версию - ошибки ушли.
