Asus PG38UQ early review

Just received my unit and had a brief and limited (further explanations below) experiencing.

Setup
- i7 3700 (yes, I know)
- Strix 980 Ti (yes, I know)
- 16 GB DDR4
- SATA SSD


Pros
- 38" is the sweet spot between 32" and 42"
- Superb text clarity and colour calibrations out of the box
- Fairly bright for a IPS LCD
- Zero bright dot / dark dot
- No OLED issues such as ABL (deal breaker for me), potential burn-in etc.
- Sturdy base; no wobbling
- Intuitive OSD

Cons
- While the metal base is hefty and sturdy, the included M6 mounting screws don't perfectly align with the pre-drilled holes at the base of the monitor. As the result, once screwed-in, the caps of the screws do not sit flush with the holes. I expect better quality from ASUS on the basics such as this.
- The input / output cover, while being magnetic (nice!), is a bit flimsy and thin.
- 90% of the plastic cover at the back of the monitor is solid, with 10% of it, in the centre region, being very soft and flimsy, almost hollow-like.


With my 980 Ti and its DP1.2, I'm able to run the monitor at

4K @ 60Hz @ 10bpc
4K @ 100hz @ 6bpc
1440p @ 144hz @ 10bpc

Due to extremely limited amount of time to game, I have not yet built a rig for 6-10 years. I picked up this PG38UQ because I appreciate the larger screen space for day-to-day use until I build my next rig. For the older games I do, the 980 Ti renders them at 1440p @ 144Hz or 4K @ 60Hz without breaking a sweat anyway. Hopefully in the next 12 months I'll be building a 13700K with a 4080 Ti / 4090 and then I'll be truly unlock and enjoy the 4K @ 144Hz this PG38 can do. At the moment, I'm quite pleased with this product.
