Need Help Selecting A Budget PC To Play Arkham Night
Hello, everyone.

I'm an old guy who, about a year or two ago, discovered Arkham Knight and started playing it on a cloud PC. Shadow PC to be exact. I'm on a fixed income and the $29.99/month fee is getting to be expensive.Plus, sometimes the playback is choppy. I'd rather just get a good budget or used PC, buy that once and be done with it.

My needs are modest. I don't see myself playing much else. I'm not a gamer, perse, but a fan of the character from back before he was "cool." So, the Arkham games will be all that I play. I have a 75 inch, 4k, TCL tv that I'd like to use as a monitor. My budget is $300. What PC would you guys recommend?

Thanks!

i would avoid thermaltake smart psu, get something better, 600w, maybe $20-30 more then you can easily upgrade to a mid+grade gpu in the future without any problems

8g ram is not enough for igpu

i would not go any lower than this

Even the recommended system requirements for these games is quite modest:

RECOMMENDED:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 3 GB Memory Recommended | AMD Radeon HD 7950 - 3 GB Memory Recommended
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 55 GB available space

This might do quite well, but is double your budget:

It might be better to get something on the used or refurbished market, keeping in mind the recommended specs above.

What were you playing on before a phone? Do you plan on playing it at 4k resolution? is that the resolution of that tv?

Going used with a Dell pre-built for like $100-200 and throwing in a part or two like ssd and maybe a stick of ram sounds like a decent option to save money.

As far as custom building this is what I came up with on pcpartpicker https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VL8sZJ (exceeds your budget though at $389).

Has...

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte A520I AC Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard
RAM: Timetec PINNACLE Konduit 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
SSD: Silicon Power A55 256 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Case: MagniumGear Neo Mini V2 Mini ITX Desktop Case
PSU: Thermaltake Smart 500 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

In any case I would get 16 GB ram instead of 8 GB, but is still is probably an option if you really strictly just wanted to play this game and older ones and do simple things with the PC.

Pcpartpicker shows the bios warning and I always advise people to take that at face value and weigh out if they want to risk buying like where there if it for some reason the bios is older and they hit a wall where they now have to update it, I'd hate to be the one responsible.

The above link happens to be a guy running Arkham Knight at 1080p (has 16 GB ram though) so you can get an idea of how that CPU should perform.

There's no way Batman will run in 4k with integrated graphics. He's going to need at least something like a gtx1070 or 1080.

Sadly if you plan on playing in native 4k you'll need something pretty powerful, even for Batman.

For example, I played Batman Arkham Knight before in 4k with a GTX 1070 and it was barely possible.

You're probably right. Still waiting on the answer for that but strongly assuming he's going to play 1080p.

who says he wants to run it at 4k
1080p looks great on a 4k display

his budget does not allow for a $500+ gpu capable of 4k gaming

I agree it does look fine but that's our opinion. The op might not agree. Remember he is used to streaming 4k graphics.

1600x900 doesn't look bad to me.

Hey, we don't even know what was the frame rate.

When did he say that he streamed at 4k?
An Intel Core i5-750 paired with a GTX 660.
Perfect buget PC.

Youll probably find one in front of junkyards or people will also give them away for free in yard sales.
