Why are people still afraid of moving to windows 11?
Once my friend told me about how it uses CPU E-cores better than windows 10. Because I use an i7 13700kf, I moved over to it and system feels even more smoother now. Boot times are even quicker than before with windows 10 pro. :BL3Thumbsup:

Well no, usually what I've seen with that in reality is...
I pause Windows Updates for 1-2 months.
If an update comes out that's buggy they will remove it entirely and then fix the issues and re-issue a revised update down the road. This has actually happened a few times on Win8 and 10 where they released an update, problems happened on user's PCs and they quickly revoked the update from the WU catalog. Then addresses the issues and uploaded a whole new update. And in many scenarios where a bugged update went out, they simply were able to quickly address the problem and issue a hotfix update to basically patch just the problem areas.

You do not have to opt into using Win11 Co-pilot, Cortana or AI-searching; these are all optional features. I used Group Policy on Win11 Pro to admin disable them for good. On Win11 Home Edition Laptops I used ShutUp10 to do it in a very similar way. Even things such as the auto web searching when you just want to search the StartMenu or File Explorer and such. As even in Win10 there was an update long ago to this that added Bing Online Web Searching when you would click StartMenu and start typing and it would auto search both local PC and Online. Quite easy to disable.

Co-Pilot in Win11 is like having an AI activated "Windows for Dummies" where you can just talk to the AI and ask questions and things and it'll bring up the answers quicker then most people could typing in an online search. Also the AI driven Co-Pilot can guide you through any areas of the Windows OS that you might not realize exist or how to reach certain features and/or settings. But again if you are an active and smart WinOS user you really shouldn't need such a thing, as least for using in regards to WinOS Help. MS wanted Cortana to be this "AI" but the thing is that back when Cortana was introduced, most AI weren't quite there yet. However I still never understood why MS just could never come close to making Cortana anywhere near as good as Apple's Siri or the one that Google has.

Windows upgrade says that my Ryzen 3950 x + Radeon 7900XTX with 32GB RAM is not compatible with win11.

Also “if it works, then don’t touch it” mentality.

That's something I do have to give Microsoft credit for in the latest major update for Windows 11, is the ability to actually uninstall Cortana. It should have been there from the start, but it's a step in the right direction.

Usually when random people on the internet aggressively try to make choices for you and tell you what to think, it's a bad thing.

Windows 11 (12) is a bad thing.
H4xX 5 OCT 2023 a las 7:19 a. m.
Agree mostly, can be concluded at least from:
- no reason to push others to or to oppose them in their choice if it doesn't affect them and doesn't obviously make you much happier - to try to make you happy
- who goes where
- lack of philosophy in said quality cases
- profits in possible shilling and brainwashing to create subconscious shills (sadly common today, companies I worked for did it)
- the existance of resistance

Something likely being a bad thing also applies to views and beliefs doing the same of course.

Yes but still adding more stuff people might not want. Even if you can turn things off, more people would rather have an Uninstall/Remove for some stuff.

Cortana is getting removed or option to remove and gets replaced by the AI assistance (AI Co-Pilot + AI web searching) you also will have the addition of Windows Backup App which will now be baked into the OS which users can't remove.

Well, there is no way I'm allowing Copilot (gee whiz, God complex there, Micro?) any free rein. The moment Cortana came out, it was buried and blocked, never to rear its head on my desktop.

I'm hoping there will be an effective way to block it. Or someone will conjure up a nice registry edit to obliterate it. :steamhappy:

But the increased amount of updates make updates kind of mandatory, as updates break software and games and make them necessary to run stuff which is kept up to date by devs who have updates on. Programs to turn spy stuff off can sadly not take care of freshly installed spyware / updates and probably generally can't stop rootkit like spy mechanisms. I got everything off on Win7, no updates, and it still phones home from time to time.

With all of the updates I've installed on Win10 and on Win11 I have no had one of them break any of my games that I played.

They are not going to install a rootkit on your PC to spy on you.

When you've turned down all of the telemetry data stuff to either off or minimum they'll stay there forever.

Terms of service about AI searching what you do and using it to lock your account are new, also the Win10+ rules about what you type into your start menu and what you speak through your microphone, etc (since they send data even if everything is turned off, I don't trust that not agreeing turns it off, so only the ability matters to me). With new versions and new updates, the ability to collect more data and in a more see through way increases.

Also the ways to control and identify you. The basic version also makes online registration mandatory and I hear you need it for some functions to work.

This just sounds like conspiracy theories unless you can prove that it actually does all of this.
H4xX 5 OCT 2023 a las 9:03 a. m.
The rootkit like behavior has been discovered since Win98. I can still see outgoing connections to their servers without doing anything on Win7 after having anything disabled.

I spoke about the terms of service, not about theories.
It wasn't my topic, but if you're looking for conspiracies hidden in plain sight, check the US law regarding companies having to permanently implement access from the CIA once asked for.
My whole internet accounts had been revealed publicly once, because the CIA had been hacked and thereby all Yahoo Mail accounts access publicated (back then the top 1 popular site). I don't want that to happen again, believe me.

10 Enterprise doesn't have Cortana. Only Edge comes installed besides integrated programs like paint, media player, internet explorer...

Cortana is the first thing I obliterated in Windows 10. Nuke it from orbit.

11 NO!

Sounds like a hardware problem on your side. I ran from Win 8.1 to Win11 on the same SSD until it literally died on me. It was running fine all that time.

I really dont know what os for my new pc 7800x3d. My usage is esports and sp games so i would be disabling most things. Its obviously a toss up between 10 and 11 sadly i dont think linux is ready for my ultrawide hdr gaming i need auto hdr i guess for my aw3423dw.

Windows ai co pilot really makes me angry as well, That as a gamer the best platform has the worst os and software why are people robbed of cpu cycles for so much trash?

So what os should i go for? Would i miss anything from W11?
