ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ
Yay nor nay?

I've been after a new monitor since Nov 22 and after reading reviews and watching YouTube I had my heart on the M27Q X, although I have had zero luck finding one in the UK from a reputable seller and each time I have a look for a monitor I keep coming back to the XG27AQ.

I spend around a third to half of my time on my PC playing games but I do a lot of video and photo editing and almost as much reading. As such I'm nervous of OLEDs and text clarity is a must, I'm old and my eyesight is not what it once was.

I'm aware of the M27Q P and I have been waiting for the Rtings review, although, again, supply in the UK seems to be non existent.

Any thoughts ?

P.S I only have space for a 27" monitor, at a push maybe 28", 32" is sadly too big and I don't want to go 4k.

Many thanks
A

I don't know too much about monitors but I would probably go with the ASUS just because I don't really see much Gigabyte monitors and so I would think ASUS brand is more reputable. Even though sure all monitors can have issues, I just feel like Gigabyte as a monitor would be statistically higher to give me problems?. Or maybe I'm underestimating Gigabyte monitor quality and they're actually pretty good?. Not sure.

EDIT: That monitor does look really good even if it's Gigabyte. Got really good reviews. Sorry it's not available to you.

They are not oled and instead fast ips. Having used 280hz fast ips personally compared to oled i found it unusable until i oc the monitor to 280hz from 240hz.

They have a lot of inherant blur that has to be brute forced. So be warned it gaming clarity is a must you will need 270hz and above.

With bad eyesight it would be maybe better to get 27" 1080p monitor, pixel size is bigger and the text is also bigger and easier to read because of it.

I currently have a 6 and a half year old 1440p, 27" monitor...

At just over arms length, I'm ok with this monitor size, resolution and text clarity.
