RTX 4060 51W idle ?!
Anybody experiencing this too . Or as its new the software like GPU-Z readings are wrong ?

It s Palit RTX 4060 Dual but i found reports for MSI RTX 4060 Ventus as well .

The official response

RTX 4060 doesn't support the detection of power consumption.

So the power consumption (51W) you saw in 3rd party software is the estimated value of the NVIDIA GPU.

It is also the lowest value of RTX 4060,
It's the same for all RTX 4060 cards.

Actually, the real power consumption under idle might be around 10W.
If it's real 51W the GPU temperature would rise to over 60C quickly and trigger the fan spinning.

your smart TV will idle at 50Watts as well, and most likely your console systems are doing the same. everything we have now a days is idleing if its not completely powered off, even your cell phone chargers are drawing current when not in use.
Yes, it will always use something, but that's no excuse for not being able to use 4-20 watts. My laptop with 6 core Ryzen 5 5500U multi core radeon with 12 GB and turned screen on uses 7 watts at idle. Or Linus, when he made a video that makes a PC more efficient than a console, the i5 9600K uses 2W in idle mode, while AMD's Ryzen 5 3600X uses 12W. When it comes to performance per watt, the story is different.

50°C after work is not a problematic temperature at all and you don't need to waste your fans for nothing.

The GPU is a little hot, I use HW monitor and my video card is 39°C idle and 51°C hot spot.

I'm just running a gigabyte RTX 2060, and those are the high temps not current (current are 1 degree less).
The idle on my 3070 FE is 19.5 - 20.5C
Try a clean install of nvidia driver 532.03

You could try debug mode. It forces Nvidia reference values. You'll have to enable it every time you boot your PC though.

how is this an issue? my 7900xtx idles at 30W usually
There is a huge difference between a GPU that requires 2x 8pin connectors and a GPU that in terms of power consumption is in the field between a low profile one like RX6400 and more mid tier one RX6500XT, RX6600.

No wonder that there are models with 3x 8pins, but this even further distances one from the other
You OS Desktop refresh rate plays a role in all of this as well as far as your GPU idle power.
60-75 Hz it's definitely going to be lower idle power compared to 144+ Hz

A&A ✠ , cannot go lower - 1080p 60Hz

Anyway guys . Thank you all who tried to help me . I ll wait with the hope that it s either a wrong sensor reading or a driver issue . You re awesome .
Hey, I'm super late for this, RTX 4060 cannot report power draw while idling,

in reality it pulls around 11w
i had a chat with copilot+ (AI app by microsoft). it said the 4060 needs 10 watts in idle-mode. i think this is a realistic value....just to mention.
