Windows and Steam
I think it's pretty crappy that steam will stop working on windows 7 after all the money I have invested in these games. They are basically telling me that I have to spend MORE money on Microsoft for a WORSE and INFERIOR and even LESS user friendly operating system. (which is corrupt an organization as there ever was) Bottom line is that windows 10 and 11 just, well...SUCK. I will absolutely never install either one of these POS operating systems. I'll forgo all my games, Steam and any other software and go to Linux before I get windows 10 or 11.

Then go Linux and continue running all your old games like normal without having to deal with Windows 10/11 while having the benefit of running a secure and actively patched OS. Continuing to run a dead OS on an internet connected machine is really not a smart thing to do.

Also, Steam is not to blame here, it is Chromium which is the component providing web-support in the Steam client. Chromium dropped Windows 7 and 8 support.

Steam has already not updated Chromium in 3 years which is causing various issues with certain websites no longer being compatible.

Hate to tell you this but Windows 7 and 8.1 are Old, Outdated, Obsolete and Unsupported operating systems. Time to move on.

Why do people keep ignoring the extremely well-known fact that Windows 7 and 8 can be upgraded to Windows 10 or 11 for free?

And even if Windows 10/11 was as bad as the holdouts say, (In their extremely hyperbolic fashion.) Linux is in fact a valid and perfectly usable alternative now.

There are no excuses not to move on from their ancient, unsupported, and insecure OS, and I think people just want to whine.

It's not that. It's more that they don't want to change. It's in human nature, to a point, not to want to. Familiar things are predictable, they are safe, they are comforting, they are less time and effort.

There are Millions Millions of people who will disagree with you that Windows 7 is better than 10 or 11.

In fact, you are among the Tiny Tiny minority who think such,
majority of the people of the world already adopted newer OS looooong ago.

Again, you are among the Tiny Tiny minority who think such.
So tiny that Microsoft doesn't even need to care about people like you. They are running (and will run) their business just fine.

Too much FUD and fear of something drastic happening to the computer if one updates.

It's understandable, but it's also understandable that a corporation must keep itself above water by cutting liabilities in supporting unpatched and unsupported systems.

It's a done deal. No turning back.

What crappy is people kept investing in Steam Games thinking they be OK to keep running Win7/8 after MS cuts it off. You should have been saving your money and buying a modern PC you can actually game on for years to come. Games you can catch on deep discount sales. No one NEEDS to rush out and buy these games @ 40-70$

Unless i'm mistaken, you are still able to convert your Win7 key to Win10 (As previously mentioned)
As such you literally dont have to spend anything

And Win10 is LOADSSSSSSSSSS Better than Win7
Yeah Win7 was great, but WAS being the key word.

ALL OS's lose support at some point, Win7 is no different.

Honestly it makes sense, less and less things are dropping support for Win 7 anyway, and even modern games will not work on Win 7. If it bothers you that much, install linux, learn and be frustrated, but its free and it works.

Also your Win 7 key will still activate Win 10, ask me how I know, It still works for the free upgrade.

Also if you can't activate it, unlikely, you can use windows for free, yes it will bother you about activating it, it will have a watermark, but they are not stopping you from using it for free.

Plus Windows 10 keys are cheap, I personally use Kinguin and have been for years, not a single issue with any of the keys I bought. Some people don't like these sites, I get it, but thats a different discussion all together.

There are ways, Good luck to ya.

Who says you need 32gb for windows 11? At bone stock installs, it uses pretty much the same as windows 10, just a more processes.

Windows 12, I hate to break it to ya, but I'm vary certain its going to be Windows 11 with the same if not worse UI and more data collection lol
