Wireless VR headset

Hello all, My Rift S has seen better days and looking to replace it.
If you had unlimited funds what would your top 3 VR Headsets be and if you can add a little explanation to why would be great.

Otherwise if you want something standalone and/or wireless now your best bet would be Quest 3 with airlink.

you could try using a cellphone and streaming the vr game to it, im pretty sure most cellphones have gyro scopes, you would hook up the vr controllers normally but then run custom software that replaces the VR helmet with your cellphone screen via wifi connection.

its been over a year with this deckard talk, however i feel like VR really just isn't a big game changer for many people due to motion sickness and VR sickness, that the industry itself can't over come that hurdle so its not profitable.

the VR controllers are great though, prehappes a move Wii style pc gaming with motion controller an monitor interaction , there are alot of pc games that could be really fun using VR controllers with while playing.

NO VR HELM needed.

Quest 3, or if got money to burn, can try for more higher quality spec VR headset like HTC vive pro 2, assuming you have a very good gaming PC to begin with.

Specs good enough. Not sure if Quest 3 released yet, but soon and yes all quest are wireless, so if you want to connect to your PC, need to use your wifi.

It's optional to use link cable to connect to your quest if don't want to be wireless. Using link cable, and able to provide enough power can extend your play session as the battery drains. Otherwise if want to be just wireless I recommend a battery pack to help extend your play session.

Also yes all quest are standalone system, they don't require a PC to use them, but having a PC to connect to opens the door to all other games it couldn't handle to run on it own system, and even have better graphics as well since quest is just a mobile device built into a headset that has setup better display, camera, tracking, and controllers.

There apparently was some hardware addon that was going to be make the Index wireless, but I haven't heard anything about Nofia in months. I know it's a bit off topic, but it's worth looking into.

I checked the website and they sold out of preorders.

Yeah there is some, been awhile I check on it, but there a youtuber that keeps updates on all VR related, but yeah IMO it's not worth due to price point unless you got money to burn. Got the index kit for $1k, then got wireless $300+ then battery pack $50+ so basically running $1500+ just to make it wireless that doesn't include body trackers, but most games don't make use of it, so can live without them unless really want it for VR chat, or such that be like extra $150+ basically.

TBH Quest 2 or 3 all really needed for most part that basically way more than half cheaper already. I laugh at Apple vision pro for $3.5k it's a overpriced glorify AR headset, where could've got whole family, and friends a quest 2 each of their own lmao.

Anyways it's really neat for index to be able to go wireless, but I wouldn't really recommend those that now coming into VR, mostly because the price point, and can already have most of the support for all the things you need with quest 2 & 3. If Valve release a new index that updated specs, I think it be worth getting one for sure.

Agree with you Dr. I think i will go with the Quest 3 as im not really into it hardcore i just think its time to replace my rift S due to the controller has just given up on me.
