Stuck pixel - but only when using Freesync
I have an AOC monitor 27 inch 1440p 165Hz curved. Today I noticed this problem, basically it's a stuck pixel. But it only shows when using Freesync - for example if I limit my FPS at 60. If I disable Freesync or uncap FPS, the stuck pixel is no longer there. Any possible solutions?

Check the warranty for its policy on dead pixels.
AOC usually has to be 3-5 pixels before its enough for a warranty return. This is why sometimes an extended warranty from place of purchase can help.

However if the device is within return policy for say 15-30 days or whatever it is for the place of purchase you should be able to return in the box with receipt for pretty much any reason
or store warranty may cover it
But usually not by default unless in EU

In USA/CAN usually you would have to have purchased extended store warranty for said product to be able to. But yes check into that right away before it's too late

I'm in Europe. I bought this in Nov 2022 so the warranty should be good. I just opened a ticket with the store I bought it from, see what they can do. Maybe tomorrow I could try a different DisplayPort cable? I don't if that's going to fix it though. Problem is tricky, but it should be understandable for a technician..
If it's a stuck pixel then it's not anything on the GPU side of things. You can try massaging it out. I've seen this method work plenty of times when it comes to LCD screens

a stuck pixel is a defect in the panel, if only shows itself with freesync its something else

a simple app to detect dead pixels

black/white are easiest, but other colors will show dead/stuck sub pixels better

Try lightly tapping on the dead pixel.
No, nothing is working so far. I've also sent a message to AOC now.
Well, the store won't replace my monitor. AOC tech support want to have a phone call with me, let's see what they can do. On their website it says they have the zero dead or bright pixel policy for 3 years so maybe I still have a chance...?

What a weird problem, it only happens when using Freesync! Otherwise the pixel works fine. It would suck if I had to buy a new screen. And then what to do with this one?
Try enable FreeSync then shutdown the PC and power off the Display completely. Then turn them back on again and see

I've tried disabling and enabling Freesync and powering my stuff on and off but nothing so far.

Seems like AOC don't want to replace the monitor either. As long as it's <5 dead or bright pixels it's acceptable to them per EU policy. They'll send me a mail to send them proof of the problem but idk. It seems like the 3 year zero dead pixel warranty only applies for the US. Damn dude...

I was always in denial when people came up with Freesync->Dead Pixel issues, because it didnt made any sense to me how Freesync would cause this kind of behaviour until we got some displays with exactly this issues in our store, back then when I used to work in a hardware repair store. Less FPS -> Dead pixel gets more visible (as far as I remember correctly)

edit:
Honst answer?
Nothing you can do, except what #8 has already suggested. Flick it gently and pray to god.

That's exactly what happens. Within the range of Freesync the lower you go, the brighter the stuck pixel is. Outside of the range - for example at 30 FPS, the pixel becomes dimmer again but still not as good as 165 Hz, which is the max of the screen. So you never managed to fix one of those monitors?
Unfortunately not. But I do remember fighting with Dell and Acer Support over this thing. Theyve always refused to take a look into it and demanded more dead pixels or other issues.

Take a video clip and some good high quality pictures of that dead pixel (on very low framerates so the pixel gets more crisp) and send all those things to support, if you havent already done it.

edit: Tell them, how this issues destroys your immersion and that you cant even work on that damn thing, becasue FreeSync is crucial to your system and setup.
