High Gpu temp ... advice
my gpu goes from a idle temp of 40-60 °C up tp 90°C not in every game btw
so i tried different things to lower the temp.
undervolting.. no change at all
disabling hardware accleration.. no change
limiting fps for lower usage in hope of lower temps also didnt work.
why is the temp so crazy? that cant be normal right?
and the fact that i did a few things and it always wants to be on 90°c feels also wrong.
i would be fine with 80-85 degrees but hitting the upper limit bothers me so much...

Not enough information. Model, age, case, ambient?

Nvidia gtx 1660 super
Bought card mid 2019 if i remember correctly.
Case no idea.
When your GPU is under load, are you sure the GPU fans are working?

I ask because once upon a time I bought an open box 1080 ti and upon using it discovered the fans never turned on so it would ramp up temps and then thermal throttle because it was effectively only passively cooled by the heatsink, so I had to RMA it.

If the fans are working, then you might be on the hook to take the heatsink off and reapply thermal paste and reseat it. I had to do that once on an old Geforce 6800 128MB AGP card.

if thats helpful.
that was when i limited the fps.
no mater if 100% usage or 60% when playing it goes up to 90°C
are you using a liquid cool AIO , check your fluid and top it up if so, also check your GPU card make sure your Fan tuning is on it sounds like a update has set your fan turning off , secondly what is the tempature in your room, if its a hot day, install a air conditioner in the PC room, a smaller room is better for this it will cool off faster.

another issue is you could of installed some type of bit miner without knowing and it is taxing your GPU and causing it to run nonstop. if you noticed this happening after you installed something do some research on what you installed , try uninstalling , also try a app killer that can termiante a program this might help you bring those GPU temps down.
2019...Personally, I would consider a GPU thermal re-paste.

Not sure how difficult that is on that particular GPU, as some are easy and some are best left alone.
or just cleaning it, it may be dusty
i used thermal paste and now i get 70°C thank you!

This is unnecessary and will void the warranty with most manufacturers. Don't give bad information, AIOs don't reach this temperature without a problem like fans not running nor need "topping off" for that generation of cards. AIOs will almost never go over certain temperatures, let alone reach 90C. I have stress tested an AIO and it doesn't need people opening it most likely causing damage by doing so. They're not meant to be serviced by standard consumers compared to dedicated waterblock GPUs for enthusiasts.

Utilization of fan controlling software especially from the gpu manufacturer/vendor is much wiser especially for that series, as users can make a more aggressive fan curve for standard air cooled GPUs.

You should increase the fan curve to be far more aggressive. check the case for any failed intake fans or exhaust fans, ensure the gpu fans are at a high speed during that temperature, if they're running low or around half speed; that's not good enough.

Also, how do you not know what case you have?
it might shock you but in the past 10 years i got asked for the first time for the case model.
i know that its a mini tower but not the model and name of that case.

Well I guess that's not the issue anymore since re-pasting fixed your issue.

Cool beans.
you should be able to get the temps to around 50c add more fans or create more air flow in your case.
Some cards also have a rather lacking fan curve with a focus on silence instead of cooling. That alone can make a 10°C difference.
