CPU Temperature
Hello everyone.... I was curious if CPU temprature while gaming ( 75-85 Celsius ) is normal?

I have an Ryzen 5 5600H CPU and I dont know if 85 degrees celsius is too much.

Max temp of that CPU is 105 so yes, you are well within normal operating temps under load.

You forgot to mention its a laptop. Otherwise i would say get better cooling as its a bit over average. But laptops be like that.

get a laptop cooling pad those little fans do wonders, also consider placing a ice pack in a plastic bag under your laptop, don't block the fan holes though, when extreme graphic gaming it might help to lower the tempatures also you could try moving the a large box fan closer to your laptop to create a better flow of air into it.

what ever you do don't put it on your lap an block the air flow.

That temp is within the safe range, though cooler it is the more it will boost clocks, so might be worth while to get a cooling pad or something, it may or may not help, but it couldn't hurt, probably would help to prop the back of the laptop up a little more so the intake at the bottom can more efficiently draw in cool air.

Hey! Thanks for suggestion, I already have a cooling pad which is pretty slow and I have ordered a better one for 145Euros on Amazon, it should arrive on Wednesday.

85 degrees is fine for a laptop, the 5600H's max temp is 105 C.

If you really hate the temperature, you can also just disable the boost clock. There are many ways to do it, but the easiest way to do it is to:

Assuming you are using Windows:

1. Use the Windows Key + R to bring up the RUN menu
2, Type "control" and hit enter. Control Panel will open
3. Click "Power Options"
5. Click "Create Power Profile" or "New Power Profile"
6. When you create a new plan, select "Change Plan Settings"
7. Select "Change advanced power settings"
8. Click "Processor Power Management"
9. Click "Maximum Power State"
10. On laptops there will be two boxes here, you can set both to "99"

When you do that, turbo mode will be disabled on your CPU and you will notice cooler temperatures. For most people, turbo mode isn't needed as most games will not reach a CPU limit on today's CPUs anyway.

The performance increase is not noticeable in most cases, and if you were doing HPC or other workloads that use a lot of compute power I doubt you'd be using a laptop anyway.

On my HP laptop the temp dropped from 95C to average of 51-59. This is because Ryzens are designed to boost up to high frequencies. Mine as always around 4.8-5.2Ghz, capped at base frequency there is little difference in performance.

these work well

Waste of money and looks horrible.

Anything to rise the back end of the notebook will be more effective to increase airflow and offset temperatures.
