Most 144Hz panels are very outdated now for 1080p; so not sure what screen res you looking to go with for everything. 5700 XT is also kind of outdated, should have probably gone with a 6600 XT or 6700 XT if you can. But 5700 XT is doable for up to around 1440p @ upwards of 180Hz or so.
What you would do is set the native screen res and refresh rate for OS Desktop.
Then on a game by game basis you can set a max FPS limit of 60 if you want.
Then enable FreeSync so you can the proper smoothness that the screen panel offers.
They will still be able to do 60 FPS very smoothly while set to the native refresh, such as 144Hz
That's all I could've afforded after years of saving.
I plan to move to 1080p as I'm still using a 900p monitor.(I'm not interested in 2k at all)
What's the difference between freesync and freesync premium?
Non-Premium = highly outdated panel = don't buy it
I'm not looking up for 2k in the next 5 years.
What country also?
If in USA, see what sort of deals are available on Amazon Prime Day Sales Event (July 11-12)
I live in Algeria. Everything is overpriced nearly doubled in price. And wage is very low.. Especially imported stuff.
There's a local company that's called *matos* and they offer great monitors for price but usually cheapout in stand which isn't that important to me. They import panels from good companies and they have good reviews here.
I don't think they support premium freesync.
I already mentioned that 1080p is already an upgrade. I always had 900p/768p monitors.
Now that I upgrade to a PC that's capable of playing competitive games at 1080p @ 150+fps
I wanna buy a 1080p144hz monitor but I'm worried about my Single player 60-80fps experience. So how can I improve it without the need to drop Res & settings
The nice man here suggested freesync but I probably can't afford a "premium" one.
Is the difference between premium & non premium worth in terms of experience?
Orange mint
I'm sorry but this is irrelevant. I never showed any interest in resolutions above 1080p in this thread.
I just want to know if there's a way to improve single player experience at 60-80 fps after getting used to 144hz in competitive games.
Thanks for informing! I want to know the exact difference between them to see if I'll be losing a lot in case I got a normal freesync in comparison with a premium/pro one
I'll only be turning it on for single player games like RE:3/4 remake and Hogwarts legacy in which 5700xt can't manage above 80fps max on high settings.
You won;t notice much if at all any difference between no freesync and freesync on at any FPS.
FreeSync Premium is more to ensure GSync Compatible but if you are sticking with AMD GPUs then this shouldn't be a real problem or issue to be concerned about.
The FPS alone is not going to dictate the "smoothness" as that mainly comes from the panel itself.
