I mean, if you can afford it, no problem. Although personally, based on my previous experience with VA panels, I'd try to go with an IPS panel. The VA ghosting and smearing, in my opinion, is worse than the typical IPS glow and backlight bleed with IPS panels. Are you specifically interested in 1440P or is 1080P also doable for you? Trust me, the "deeper blacks" of a VA panel don't mean much if it causes black smearing, just making it all look like vaseline (unless you buy one of the two Samsung Odyssey monitors that don't have that problem).

I recently got a Gigabyte G24F. It's a great 165 Hz IPS monitor. The IPS glow is barely noticeable and the contrast ratio is still pretty good. Mind you, mine's 24 in 1080P. But I do believe they have a 1440P and/or 27 in version. I think it's Gigabyte M27Q. Although that one is currently $300 unless you can find it cheaper.
I would personally try to get one either 144 or 170 because of the even number. I just have this idea that possibly 165 hz leads to complications more often than the other two I mentioned just because of that odd number.

That's just me though and a thought. Either way, I wouldn't gamble on it when I don't have too and there are enough to choose from.
5ms response time these days is garbage

I have to agree with this. Samsung G5[www.amazon.com] 344x1440 and it is all of that^.

and 1ms response time vs 5ms for the one the OP posted
That's the monitor I'm using. (almost, 32gn650-b). It's great in every way. Except for the massive black ghosting. That is natural for VA.

I didn't notice it in movies or games. But it is massively present here reading the steam forum that has dark gray background and every user avatar with black (or text using the spoiler format) ghosts on scrolling. If you use "dark" theme in browser and editors and work with text and scrolling, I recommend against it. For light themes it's fine, the problem is with 100% black to 80% black transitions. in https://www.testufo.com/ghosting the tail in the top row is almost as wide as the ufo.

It has a "reading" setup that gets rid of ghosting but then the colors are completely off.

In exchange the black is actually black, like the frame. Other panel types go nowhere near. If you can't just return it after buy, I suggest research and look at the pic personally to tell whether it will bother you or not.

Sorry but I disagree.

I have a Viewsonic VX2718 2K 165hz with a VA panel and no ghosting due to the 1ms response time.

The issue is the response time, not that it's a VA panel.

5ms is TRASH

The 1ms and 5ms figures are pure nonsense -- a single value is posted that is a best transition between some levels. Tells nothing about transition elsewhere.

5 ms would be beyond great if it held across the range. On the ufo test I see like 100 pixels on 960/s so it means around 100 ms transition time. 50 in the middle row, 15-20 in the lowest.

depends on what they are actually measuring
2-5ms g2g is actually good
1ms or lower for backlight on/off rate is just marketing
Last I heard the G5 was trash. I would avoid VA panels except the G7 or G9.

you dont even know what card or cpu he has how far away he sits this is all important
hows anyone going to recommend a monitor.this is a huge problem people buying
monitors they cant run worth a crap.then wonder why they struggle to hold 60fps.
or sit to close to a larger screen monitor and even 1080 looks better at that point
at the proper distance and screen size

I play mostly those kind of games -- rpg, management. Didn't encounter any problems with the monitor there.
Everything by BenQ is top notch
Hi
Sorry to reply late.

Thanks for the opinions and help.

This wont be used for any serious media and unlikely for any content editing.

I will be using this for general web, PC gaming in strategy games so 60 frames is fine. I MIGHT play something more frame rate and FPS on my new PC maybe out of curiosity but generally I wil be fine with 60 frames on the games I will be playing with it.
