PC Slows down incredibly for some seconds
Hey there, Steam Community.

Last few weeks I am facing with a trouble - my PC randomly freezes (more correctly - it slows down many times, like "FPS drop" from 300 to 5). If I listen to music - it also becomes ears-killing hell sound.

I know it should be RAM trouble, but I have changed it some months ago - had no troubles. Also, to let you know - I don't use any piracy software or download slackware - so the idea of "virus" or "miner" is unbelievable.

What about my PC - currently I use AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, RTX 4070 and what about RAM - I have two cards and 16 (!!!) GB in sum. Guess that is the problem?

First of all - these "lags" started when I first set-up my PC including BSODs. But I have experienced them only 2 times (3 years and 2.5 years ago). Later, after many upgrades - I have never seen BSODs again. So, the "lags" came back, firstly - they were quite short - only 1 or 2 seconds long, after that, everything went OK. But now they have grown up to 7-10 seconds. And still no BSOD.

I must point - what about frequency - I have them also randomly, for about once per 15-20 minutes

And I discovered them originally when I was clicking YouTube videos. Now I have them no matter what I do - connecting VPN, serfing the Net or playing CS.

Damn it, your turn

Might be your storage drive. Freezes/slowdowns are usually related to system memory or drives.

I have just checked all my disks with CrystalDisk and other useful programs - they all show good states for all of drives... Should be System Memory then. Damn

Is your motherboard running the most up to date BIOS? AMD has had some RAM compatibility/stability issues on AM5 (first generation DDR5 Intel boards did too). And BIOS updates are going to resolve a lot of RAM compatibility/stability issues. And you may need to keep up on those BIOS updates at least until system stability is satisfactory.

Thanks for letting me know that. I will definitely check this info tomorrow

if you did not get the correct drivers, its most likely using windows generic drivers which are never correct

full specs?
post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

get the drivers from the mobo mfg site and amd/nvidia/intel

You need to install MSI afterburner and rivatuner and enable the metrics overlay to see what your PC is doing during this moment because that will tell you where the problem is!

Thermal throttling will do this in classic fashion!

Word. You can't do ♥♥♥♥ if your storage is at 100% disk usage. Maybe that's the issue.

Keep Task Manager open at all times, OP, just to have an easier way to check out the culprit.

Well, it's been 2 days - first of all - I have switched from Firefox to Opera GX - and have completely uninstalled Firefox. Now I don't have these "lags" :P :gng:

Mine is like that with certain old games I have to tab out and then back in. But that's with windows

Hopefully 6.0 drops and I can get my hardware running Linux again. I would do it, I just have no other machine to compile the code
