the orientation of the clip is different on V1 vrs V2 one clip lock is on top the other on bottom
i want it to point down.my guess is it the clip lock is on top ?

No, that cablemod is correct. That adapter sticks UP.
They made this because the cable would plug into the backplate side for users who mount the GPU vertically. If you mount your GPU the traditional way, yes please do not buy that adapter.

There's enough space to reach the retainer clip, push it down and pull the connector off by grabbing it from the sides. It's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocket science.

Your configuration is different than mine. Mine has the sense pins on top and the clip below but I looked at your card on Newegg and it shows the sense pins on the bottom and the clip on top. That's for both OC and non OC models as well as the Strix models too.

but honestly they are gouging people 40.00 for adapter then they get you with
some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shipping scam wait till they come to amazon or buy from another company
i refuse to be gouged and the original plugin does fit in my case so i'll wait awhile

why would you go up with your cables ? you would use variant A 180 degree

Clear the back-plate?
How about a vertical mount?
I only replied because you made Variant A of said adapter to seem like an absolute, clear solution for a 4090 TUF and that's not always true.

The adapter pointing up towards rear of gpu side is for people who mount the GPU vertical. If you mount horizontal then buy the adapter that points down
