Give us a Steam Desk!
Dear Valve.
I like the Steam Deck, but it clearly is not the solution for everything. What I mostly like about it, is its very low Power Consumption while packing quiet a punch when needed. I would really love to see that CPU in a Steam Desk.
Just take the Steam Deck hardware, remove battery, joysticks and the screen, give us a few more ports (HDMI, DP and much more USB) in a 12x12cm case and if possible at all, passively cooled. Oh, and a 2280 M.2.
If you bring that for the 400€ pricetag of a Steam Deck, I will take 2.
Regards

You can already do that. It's literally a mobile AMD APU. So, get an AMD APU laptop, put a dock to it and you're done.

Valve tried stationary models, they were called Steam Machines. Calling them a colossal failure would be an understatement.

The SteamDeck does well because it is a handheld device, a niche market. Competing with already available laptops and desktop machines will put Valve at a massive disadvantage.

LOL. Most companies would prefer to make money for some reason.

Steambox i thought you meant 7800X3D and 7900XTX and the steam os in one box. That would be good.

Buy Nintendo switch, it will solve your portable gaming needs.

And if you want to use Windows, buy a proper laptop.

I am seriously considering buying a 2nd Deck as HTPC. The market is there and NUCs are just not there yet (AMD>Intel when gaming with onboard grafics). The Deck is small, cheap and fast, just put it in another case, everything else is alredy there.
And the Steam Machines were not by valve, they were just mini PCs from china with a steam sticker. Besides, Steam OS back then was nowhere near to what it is today.

They make money by selling the Deck for 400. They would make money selling a PC without display and battery for 400 too. What are you takling about?

I had chinese mini PC before. Usually they are quiet noisy, plus idle desktop power consumption of the Deck is awesome, I doubt Beelink will get anywhere near that.

I am looking for the opposite of portable.

Steam Deck may be another failure hardware due to mobility issue and bad battery life. So it is better to just get a laptop with same performance.
