RTX 4070 TI 4k medium settings results and future proofing
i am someone who usually buys 70 series GPU's and currently still own 2070 Super with i7 8700k believe it or not it can run games at 1440p at medium settings in most games such as ARK survival evolved / call of duty / CSGO / FFXIV / GTA 5 120-200 fps average on all games some even higher. I skilled 30 series GPU's on purpose and i was waiting for 4070 TI but it seems to be a huge dissapointment . Now im waiting for ARK 2 which would be out this year and i know its a very demanding game.

(note : ill be building a new PC for the new GPU with i9 and nvme ssd with 32 gb of ram dual channel)
My question is would be a smart decision to wait for next years GPU release from NVIDIA or just get 4080 when its on sale ? my main goal is run games at 140+ fps at 4k at medium settings i never usually run high or epic sometimes mix and match. or is 4070 TI decent at 4k medium settings ?

if my current system already runs games at 1440p for last 2-3 years at 150-200 fps whats the point of that GPU ? is it just better for me to wait till next gen ? ive been a loyal customer to Intel and NVIDIA when it comes to builds and even when i built 100+ pcs for my friends irl i also always advised intel over amd and nvidia over amd . I just dont know when to TIME my build so i can make it last for 4-5 years atleast.

You might see a res increase in the short term, I've not really researched the 4070Ti. It's all relative, you might see some short term gains, but a 4070 is not a 4090. So you should never expect a card at 2 price brackets below Flagship level to give you long term gains. At best it will be a short term gain, then as games push upwards on the specification boundaries, well you're going to lose out long term.

It's what other people have said, there is no right time, or right piece of hardware, there is what is available, what price is it, and does it improve performance?

But expecting a relatively poor bang for buck card (and I base that on the fact that Nvidia has been price gouging for years now), to perform as well as YOUR expectations? I doubt it.

Do some research, read some hardware articles, compare benchmarks (but keep an open mind to minor percentage points of difference, they're very rarely noticeable in real life), watch some (unbiased haha) Youtube vids.

Basically, do your homework, like most serious PC builders have been doing since the early '90's.
youre ignoring the fact that even a 4090 today cant handle 4k at 120 fps in most games.... especially with unreal engine 5 its below 100 with 4090 after 7 years we couldnt touch 100 fps when 1080 TI handled 60-70 fps 4k 7-8 years ago .

Yet, you.re the one asking about a 4070 Ti...

So, what gives?

I'm not ignoring it all, I clearly stated "if you're going to lay out that much money on a GPU, make sure it can do what you expect".
Nvidia is overpriced but you will get the same high price when you sell it.
If you buy RTX 4090 now for $2k, you will be able to sell it at $1.5k after 18 months (prior to next gen release). High GPU prices are here to stay, they are not gonna drop any time soon.

That's kinda why I'm saying turn off AA, render at 4k or 5k, and downscale.
...my 2070 super was designed for 1440p...

Where'd you read that? I'm aware 2070/super was capable of doing 1440p, but I didn't get the impression anybody thought it was a guaranteed 1440p 144hz on every game even triple junk ones kind of gpu.

Now you may be using that point, poorly I might add, to troll. But that is what it is, and other people will see it for what it is.

trolling ? ive been asking questions on nvidia forums to youtube testing benchmarks for clarification from 4070 TI owners and 2 4090 owners told me they do NOT get 4k 120 fps at high settings stable

"4070 TI i SHOULD expect that card to be able to give me 120+ fps at 4k resolution"

No, you should disregard your own expectations, and accept the resolutions that the manufacturer has rated that card for, unless it's an older title, where you will obviously increased performance gains.
So in other words a 1200-1600$ card 4070 Ti is expected to run games at 1440p ?? And we should be all ok with this ?

1440p and some 4k, the same way I said 2070 was 1080p and some 1440p. That's my perception. I don't think anybody said it couldn't do 4k at all, zero, 1440p only.

My RX 480/580 (modded bios) can do 1440p, it's not particularly good on a single card, but it can do it, and does more often than not. And unless it's a game released within the past year, it does quite well at maintaining 60 FPS, on a single GPU.

So, you're stating that 2 4090 owners don't get stable fps at 4k, yet you're asking about the validity of upgrading to a 4070Ti?

Bad troll, trolls very badly.

Well, You can't keep comparing it to old cards. This is what has basically caused half the uproar from pc gamers because the performance gains just aren't there and especially for the prices they are selling at.

Sorry but my original RX 480 has better specs, though older architecture than the 6600XT, In fact the 6600XT is pretty similar, but obvs has architecture upgrades.

How does 480 have better specs?

Of course I'm talking in terms of compute units and the like. As I said the 6600XT has much more real world speed, due to generational gains.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec here but do you measure CPU performance by clock speed?
