What GPU to upgrade at more reasonable price than 4070 ti?
I was planning on buying a 4070 ti and building or buying a system based on that, but with it over MSRP I'm not going to buy one. So what would be a good alternative that wouldn't be so expensive? Should the 3080 go down in price? What about something from AMD that would be nearly as good?

My max budget for a total PC build (excluding monitor, keyboard/mouse and speakers) is $2,300. What other components would you suggest as far as motherboard/processor?

I also want to upgrade from my 1080p monitor to a 27" 1440p one.

My current system is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.90 GHz
8GB RAM
Geforce 1070

I'm not sure exactly what the GPU market's like where you live, but I would set aside a chunk of change for the GPU, then use the rest of your budget for everything else.

I'm haven't really kept track of prices recently but I would say maybe try to get the best GPU you can find at around $1,000 give or take.

You should be able to get decent components for the rest of your system with the remaining budget. I would focus on keeping that fine balance between getting the best CPU without skimping on other components such as the Mobo, PSU, Memory, etc.

Also yeah stay away from the 4070 ti, it's price to performance is incredibly pathetic.

Do you live near a Microcenter or no?

What card would you suggest?

Well, this is an idea of the parts you could get if you really wanted to max that budget out and it is an AMD system https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vVmpk9. I'm not too great with Intel so can't really give you a good idea of what to get with them.

You could lower the cost by all around changing out parts. Those are all pretty much high end parts.

Now, that's a rig, can do 1440P with ease.....I have the MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX, and imo, any AIB built XT/XTX would be good. At OP, it's the reference cards that may have issue....

At your budget, probably an RX 7900xt like emoticorpse suggested. Maybe have a look and see if you can find any good deals on the high end RTX 3000 series cards.

The GPU market just feels pretty rough right now, makes me feel lucky I managed to get an MSRP 3080 fe back in 2021.

The 4070ti is being slated for a reason. It's not just poor value, it's also not a very good graphics card for higher resolution monitors.

As usual, nVidia is being very close-fisted when it comes to VRAM, at higher res, especially 4K, 12GB VRAM may not cut it, though the GPU itself may actually be capable of decent 4K performance to some extend,

And to think nVidia had originally wanted to sell this as a tier higher card as the RTX 4080 12GB (Fake Edition) at 100USD more (899USD).....

Stay away from 7900 series reference cards. There is issue with vapor chamber design causing them to overheat. There have been already at least 50 cases where it hit 110 C.

Lol 4070ti 14% faster than 3080 but same price two years later! TWO WHOLE YEARS FOR 14% GAIN!!!

Boycott Nvidia and buy the 7900xtx or dont buy anything. Nvidia smell desperation and dont want you to buy anything but the 3080 and 4090... They are desperate to sell the mountain of 3080 cards they thought miners would buy. Disgusting company!

Well you missed the good gpu deals. Almost all November long there were good sales but many wanted to wait for 7900 series. 7900 series is a fail from what I've seen so far.

Now the 7600 and 7800 look promising but not sure how well those will do 1440p 21:9 or 2160p or what the prices will be yet.

Fairly happy with my EVGA 3080 Ti that I got at MicroCenter near launch at $1399. Nvidia FE ones were 1299 but couldn't find those anywhere as they appeared to sell out as soon as they were ready to order online.

During November and especially Black Friday all through the week to follow (Cyber Week) places like Amazon had 3060 Ti for 399 and 3070 Ti for 599

But yes many of the current prices are terrible and don't make much sense. It's how it goes sometimes.

Nvidia is already about to announce RTX 50 series so I'm not touching RTX 40 series. 3080 Ti does very well even at 2160p

Source for 50 series? Thats normally two years from the 40 series. Im expecting a price cut and dp 2.1 revision unless they plan to call that the 50 series... I dont expect 50 series until September 2024 and Sept 2023 the 4000 Ti models like 4090ti.
