Screen flickering and animals jumping into the air
Just bought a new Alienware Laptop. Finally got Skyrim V loaded, but when I start it, the animals (Mammoths and others) are jumpy (one is in the sky) and when I run, the screen flickers. The water also seems to flicker. I have done everything I know to do with my graphics card - have a good one, but I can't get it to stop. In my old system I had the same problem and remember there was a simple fix, but I can't remember it and when I Google it, I get some weird "solutions". Thanks for any help.

Try enabling Vsync? I know this is a workaround but if you don't mind vsync maybe it's a good solution? Some Googling leads me to believe it's because of FPS going above 60 fps or that's what they say on Reddit and other places. I never played that game so I wouldn't know.

Thank you. I will look for that and try it out. I don't know where that would be, but I know I had to do that for my World of Warcraft, not sure where it will be in my Skyrim, but I'll look and give it a shot. Thank you, friend....

Ditto, I've had issues with OG Skyrim in the past running above 60 FPS resulting in a whole host of problems including screen flickers. Capping framerate to 60 should fix any weird graphical/physics bugs.

Just checked, I realise now that OG skyrim has no vsync setting but is enabled by default. However, if you have a monitor or panel that has a refresh rate over 60hz, Skyrim will use that rather than the intended 60 FPS. So for me, it would run all the way to 144hz causing numerous issues. The only way I was able to resolve this was by capping the framerate in the '3D settings' section of Nvidia's control panel. You can type in whatever max framerate you want once you have added the .exe for Skyrim.

Hope this resolves your issue!

Edit: apparently you can effectively do the same thing above by editing the SkyrimPrefs.ini file. I haven't tried this though.

Thanks you, friend. I found the VSync in my NVIDIA thing, changed all the settings, nothing helped. I will search to see how to change my fps on my computer. Not sure how, or if I should change it in my NVIDIA thing. I don't know much about computers, but I guess this is how you learn. 🤣

Thanks all. I found it in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Under "Max Frame Rate". I set it there and my game is working...Thank you all soooooooooo much...
