If the system is operating normally and not voerheating and it ONLY does this right at startup then I personally wouldn't worry too much if it were happening to me. My GPU fans make this distinct sound sometimes when I'm using the system, like I think when going to turn on but not actually doing so, or maybe it's them stopping, but it only occurs at desktop when using something that uses the GPU lightly, and it's rather rare. A single time noise at startup wouldn't bother me.
Just seems odd is all its normally super quite..
You'll need to do it at least 4 times for PSU, GPU, CPU, Case fans (depending how many you have)
The computer is normally super quite even on start up..didnt happen until recently....even when games are under load.
It doesnt do any type of revving during gameplay or after the start up revving...could this be a case fan issue? The fan spin as normal I havnt seen anything weird happen with the fans at all I was thinking maybe
So this might be a bios issue? is that normal?
How would we get the fans to stop spinning full speed on start up via bios then?
In case you missed my edit, if you were to power on and go straight into bios and stay in there does the revving still happen? have you looked at your fans and seen how much dust is on them?
BIOS change (for either motherboard or GPU depending on what fan changed, as the BIOS/VBIOS will impact this).
Or a fan is getting worn or something.
If the noise doesn't bother you, and it doesn't overheat and the fan performs fine, then in theory it should be no issue. Just watch temperatures as normal.
But if you've for sure isolated what fan it is and think it is faulty, and it has warranty, you can reach out to support of the manufacturer.
Have you confirmed it to be a fan, by the way? No hard drives in the system? Checked fans for nearby wires maybe being hit on startup?
I have a suspicion that it possibly (no idea how likely) a piece of software. Let's say OP's hardware is performing just as well as it was on day 1 except now a piece of software is running his GPU/CPU hardware to the max at startup when that was not happening before.
This is why I was asking if it happened in bios. I'm wondering when it starts. If it doesn't start in bios then it may be something within Windows.
if its normal fan noise, you can change bios fan settings
most will run fans at full speed during post, and then slow once past post and using bios fan profiles
No, I mean software running his CPU/GPU to the max and obviously in connection the noise from the fans ramping up to dissipate that heat.
Also OP, I just turned my PC and remembered that my pc does the same exact thing. I really think it's normal just like Illusion of Progress said very early in the thread.
I suppose I understand why it wasn't happening before but not many of us can probably answer that specific behavior of your custom pc or situation especially now that it's over and behavior isn't happening any more.
Even google "pc fans loud on startup" and you will probably notice that the consensus is that it's normal expected behavior so if anything your pc was probably acting suspiciously before but now it's fixed? can think of it that way instead of worrying so much.
