But yes that VR headset is just as supported as Vavle Index or HTC VIVE would be.
No it doesn't. They stripped that requirement quite a while ago.
One issue though is that support is very soon going to be dropped for Quest 2. While this shouldn't matter if you play VR Games on a platform such as Steam Client; this does matter should you want to play available games you can install directly to the Quest 2.
For the price, the Quest 2 has it's Pros. Since it allows stand-alone VR stuff to be installed directly to it. You can take it on-the-go and use it with a HD/UHD TV. Comes in handy for doing fitness stuff or other light-weight VR stuff outside of PC/Steam. While not cheap, they are also a nice way to view Movies if you lack a decent big screen. As a VR headset can simulate that to a certain extend. Only thing missing would be the room shaking bass.
It is no longer Oculus though; it's Meta. The parent company of Facebook.
The RIFT is another decent budget friendly VR Headset.
You also need to consider if there any addition costs. Such as any accessories you might need and also what is required should you want to use your VR wirelessly.
Well, i'm just looking to play VR at home, along with my PC. So the Quest 2 should have no problems with that...?
And what do you mean when you say support is gonna be dropped for it soon? Can you please elaborate a bit, does this mean i will soon no longer be able to play Steam VR games on it?
Directly linking is great for the battery (I get around 6 hours of playtime from a single charge) but having the cable attached makes some games more difficult to play. Air play eliminates this problem but the battery will tank out in about an hour and a half if you're lucky. Using the device stand alone will usually give around 3 hours of playtime before needing charging again.
The standard strap that comes with the unit is pretty awful but easily replaceable, think the one I bought was about £50 extra but well worth the money
