Audio error when using Hdmi

Happy new year everyone, i have kind of a big annoying issue when conecting my laptop to the tv with an hdmi cable, games like cod world at war or sonic cd keep using the laptop audio output instead of the tv, when more modern games have no issue with this at all, pls i need help already tried google but noone seems to have the same issue.
Im using Windows 10 btw.

Try setting the TV as default audio device. That way when the TV is connected audio should go through it. When not connect it can only go through the Laptop

Connect the TV
Windows key + S
Type Sound and press enter
Sound Control panel (right side)
Playback tab
Right click TV
Set as Default Device
Apply

When you play these games, you can't minimize the window or like CTRL+ALT+DEL to get back to Windows temporarily then manually switch the output to the TV instead of the laptop? I know this isn't really a fix but if they're older games it just might be how they were designed and aren't used the the new like "auto-detect" features of the newer oses?
