Is 27 inch too big for 1080p?
Hey guys,

I had a 27 inch 1080p monitor long ago, but it looked like butt, not clear at all vs a smaller 24 inch, does it still look like poo on newer 27 inch monitors?

Thanks

for me personally, not bad at all 1080p in 27" but i guess its not worth it to buy right now, i seen threads and heard news that QD-LED will get cheaper, even so you can take 1440p monitor, depends what do you expect

it depends on the quality of the monitor i think,i had an acer 27" ,was super crisp and clear.
Now an 34" 3440x1440.

for a monitor at arms length, yes
27-32 is good for 1440p

I personally hate 1080p on anything bigger than a 24 inch, I've had many 1080p monitors and TV's and none of them looked good up close, from afar its not terrible, saw jaggies on many games that have poor Anti Aliasing which is shockingly a lot of them where even 8x MSAA or any other implantation just sucked, GTA5, Forza to name a couple, some games did it alright like older Battlefields, BF1 I think lacked a good AA, I can't remember if it was that one or BFV.

Of course thats personal preference, using DSR or any forum of res scale above 1080p on a 1080p monitor helps but not much, makes it sharper but thats not the problem.

1440p to me is perfect for 27in and slightly bigger, but of course some people are more sensitive to lower PPI than others and im one of them.

I'm pretty happy and comfortable with 1080p at 32". I know it's not the greatest DPI in the world. Some would even call it bad, but what does that even mean? In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that long ago that I was enjoying "high res" graphics at 640x480 on a 19" monitor.

Depends on viewing distance. Indeed for 27" 1080p falls on the low side. And if you work with text and have sharp eyes it's suboptimal. But for picture it will not "look poo". OTOH if you decide on going up on res, 27" would be a waste as you can go all the way up to 32".

Yes. I have a couple of 1080p monitors (23&24inch), and they are not great, but acceptable. If they were any bigger they would be bad.

Depends on the monitor, some newer 144 Hz+ 27" 1080p IPS monitors are pretty crisp and you can`t see any pixelation or jagged edges.
If your hardware can handle it it`s better to get 27" 1440p though.

For games it's fine. For everyday browsing it's a bit Minecraft. :pokercube:

I got a Acer 27 inch 1080p monitor at 75 Hz.

It's good but I believe at 27 inch it's probably as high as you want to go with 1080p.

I think 27inch for 1080p is fine.
But I'd recommend 1440p.

Better to check at local store.

First off, can the OP's specs handle 1440p well enough to make the switch?
